Job Duties
The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a fast paced high-volume office with frequent deadlines. Ensures court instruction is executed and legal documents are prepared accurately and in accordance with appropriate policies and judicial instructions; provides support to the Clerk of Court and Judges assists the supervisors daily docket preparations as well as assisting the Judge on the bench.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle a wide range of complex clerical and financial tasks to include data entry assessing court costs accurately accept and receipt payments process court documents and when necessary provide instructions to public answering phones assist the judge during court and alphanumeric filing. Be able to process a high volume of traffic paperwork to include but not limited to entering a large volume of traffic summonses warrants scanning issuing subpoenas processing dockets and assisting the judge on the bench with both traffic and criminal dockets etc. Responsibilities will also include your assistance with criminal matters as well as processing civil paperwork to include protective order petitions. Researches and provides verbal and written information requested by the public attorneys and other government organizations etc. Must be able to multitask and assume additional duties to accommodate the needs of the clerks office to include cross training.
Minimum Qualifications
High Schpol degree or equivalent required. Most competitive applicants will have knowledge of court civil process/criminal justice system be detailed oriented to include a high degree of accuracy and the ability to manage priorities. Must be able to explain procedures in a clear and easy to understand manner in person and while on the phone. Experience handling money is highly desirable.
A combination of education and experience is required to provide competence in the areas of responsibility. Court business or office-related experience in a variety of general office operations and procedures (e.g. data entry knowledge of personal computers competence in automated records and financial systems filing systems bookkeeping etc.) is desired.
