Position Overview
Vital Tech Solutions is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex cross-functional technology initiatives for a top client in the Lansing MI area. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills as well as a foundational understanding of IT infrastructure and enterprise systems.
The ideal candidate will bring experience managing large-scale projects with multiple workstreams vendor involvement and high visibility across business and technical teams. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time within budget and aligned with organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and accountability for high-impact IT initiatives
- Lead project planning resource allocation scope definition and milestone tracking
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with executive stakeholders and project sponsors
- Identify and manage risks dependencies and issues to ensure smooth project execution
- Oversee vendor deliverables contract performance and cross-team coordination
- Guide long-term release and resource planning in alignment with business goals
- Ensure consistent documentation and reporting across all phases of the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to evaluate technical requirements and ensure integration across systems
- Support process improvement and best practices adoption within the project management team
Requirements
Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience leading complex IT projects with 20 team members
- Demonstrated experience with full project lifecycle delivery including budget and schedule management
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (e.g. firewalls load balancers servers storage networks and cloud environments)
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps Jira MS Project)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills including reporting to senior leadership
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience applying both Agile and traditional project management methodologies
- Strong analytical thinking problem-solving and organizational skills
