Founded in 1965 the Chinese-American Planning Council Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American immigrant and low-income communities. Today CPC is the nations largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City including early childhood education school-age care youth services workforce development community services and senior services. CPC strives to be the premier social service and leadership development 2017 CPC launched Advancing Our CommUNITY its organization-wide strategy to expand services to address persistent needs and emerging trends and to improve leadership skills among staff and community 2022 our core programs and emergency services reached 200000 people living in all five boroughs and all 51 city council the summer of 2022 CPC was recognized as the number one Chinese American organization in New York City to recommend to a Chinese immigrant looking for in-language and culturally competent resources according to a recent survey. CPC School Age Child Care (SACC) Programs are after school and summer programs that serve approximately students from grades K-5 each year (ages 5-12). The goal of the program is to support students in all learning areas including intellectual academic physical social and emotional growth. The program offers creative and structured activities to strengthen participants academic skills and incorporates the disciplines of science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) in a variety of projects as well as art and physical activities. SACC Programs generally operate on weekdays from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with possible evenings weekends and school holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is seeking experienced and motivated Site Supervisors to join our afterschool programs at the following sites:

  • PS 160 5105 Fort Hamilton Parkway Brooklyn NY 11219
  • PS 255 1866 E 17th Street Brooklyn NY 11229

Reporting to the on-site Program Director Site Supervisors support program operations by supervising staff overseeing daily activities and ensuring smooth day-to-day functions. Site Supervisors also fulfill Group Leader responsibilities as needed including working directly with children in the classroom. Candidates should demonstrate a growth mindset showing openness to learning feedback and continuous professional development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Support the Program Director by supervising Activity Specialists Group Leaders Youth Counselors and Volunteers in the implementation of the afterschool program.
  • Ensure the health safety and well-being of all program participants by providing active supervision of activities.
  • Promote an inclusive welcoming and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of participants and staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely program documentation including participant files data entry (DYCD Connect) attendance records sign-in/out forms behavior and incident reports as appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with school administration teachers program staff and CPC leadership to ensure alignment and support for program goals.
  • Foster a strength-based youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning emotional or behavioral differences.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials such as flyers to promote program awareness and support enrollment efforts.
  • Serve as a positive role model to children staff and families.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular proactive communication about their childs progress and development.
  • Work with the Program Director to ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are secured and maintained.
  • Understand communicate and uphold CPCs core values and the goals of the School-Age Child Care (SACC) program to all participants and caregivers.
  • Actively participate in all required trainings meetings and special events.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health DYCD and other funder standards expectations and regulations.

Group Leader Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement detailed developmentally appropriate lesson plans that are engaging and aligned with Common Core Standards; submit plans to the Education Specialist for review and feedback.
  • Lead instruction in Math English Language Arts and other subject areas including Science and Social Studies.
  • Provide continuous supervision of children to ensure their safety; respond appropriately to medical emergencies and behavioral issues.
  • Document attendance incidents and other required records in compliance with program rules and CPC policies.
  • Work constructively with colleagues and communicate regularly with supervisory staff.
  • Maintain an organized welcoming classroom environment including upkeep of educational equipment and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience working in youth programs or educational settings.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children and knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with willingness to learn accept feedback and continuously develop professionally.
  • Bilingual language skills preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and virtual communication platforms (e.g. Zoom Google Classroom).
  • Ability to learn and effectively use program-specific data and compliance systems.
  • Bilingual language proficiency preferred:
    • PS 160: Chinese (Mandarin Cantonese Fujianese)
    • PS 255: Russian Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) or Spanish

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

  • $25.00 - $25.00 per hour; 25 hours per week
