JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Center for the Business of Sustainability in the Smeal College of Business is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Strategic Engagement & Culture Intern. This position offers a unique opportunity for a graduate student with a passion for sustainability to contribute to shaping a vibrant culture of innovation engagement and impact across the Centers programs. The intern will support key outreach storytelling and community-building initiatives that advance the Centers mission to embed sustainability in business education and practice.
Job duties to include:
Coordinating logistics communications and meeting facilitation for the CBS Student Advisory Committee and its three subcommittees
Leading nomination storytelling and recognition efforts for the quarterly Sustainability Champions Awards
Organizing internal events and culture-building initiatives that strengthen team dynamics and reinforce Center values
Facilitating meaningful connections between students alumni staff and external partners
Researching and supporting outreach to prospective donors and strategic partners
Assisting with alumni engagement and outreach to build the Sustainability Advisory Board
Creating donor-ready storytelling assets (e.g. one-pagers infographics video content) to support development and communications
Supporting development pipelines tracking contacts and assisting with reporting and stewardship
Contributing to monetization strategies for Center platforms including MajorSustainability
Requirements qualifications and/or competencies:
Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Penn State University
Demonstrated passion for sustainability and a desire to support community engagement and inclusive leadership in the field
Excellent communication storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams
Experience with event planning outreach or strategic communications is preferred
Familiarity with Canva Adobe Creative Suite or video editing tools is a plus
Organized proactive and detail-oriented in managing responsibilities and timelines
Schedule:
Approximately 10 hours per week over a 12-week period. Flexible scheduling is available but some meetings or events may require evening availability.
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $16 per hour.
