The mission of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the the faithful pursuit of this mission the Archdiocese is seeking a Parish Secretary for St. Jerome Catholic Church. The Administrative and Pastoral Assistant reports to and performs administrative and pastoral support for the Pastor including: planning and coordinating pastoral and liturgical programing for the parish overseeing evangelization and catechesis efforts in support of both the pastor and religious education conceiving and composing material for evangelization and catechetical outreach assisting in the coordination of the parish calendar editing and maintaining parish digital platforms training and supporting volunteers in pastoral ministry and assisting the pastor in the delegation of administrative and communication tasks as they pertain to the pastoral mission of the parish.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Must be a practicing Catholic college diploma required theology studies preferred with 3 to 5 years pastoral and/or administrative experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Candidates must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as possess excellent organizational and people skills. They must be able to take direction as well as initiative working within the creative opportunities of parish administration and ministry and be able to work with volunteers and groups delegating responsibilities and tasks. They should possess a strong facility with digital media publishing and composition. Most importantly they must have a passion for evangelization and pastoral ministry.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and printers but also demands flexibility with the use of cell phones and analog types of communication. The rhythm of a parish office is often interrupted and spontaneous constantly balancing the urgent and important. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position 40 hours/week. Expected hours of work are 9:00-5:30 on weekdays. However there may be the occasional need to work on evenings and weekends as needed with time off being taken accordingly during the week.
