Key Responsibilities & Duties

Technical Oversight

• Review and validate MEP design documentation drawings specifications and load calculations to ensure technical accuracy and constructability within fit-out constraints
• Perform detailed technical analysis of HVAC electrical plumbing and fire protection systems proposed for fit-out projects
• Develop comprehensive MEP technical specifications aligned with project requirements client expectations and regulatory standards
• Identify potential MEP system conflicts and integration challenges early in the design phase proposing effective technical solutions
• Conduct thorough MEP site surveys to assess existing conditions and infrastructure limitations
• Provide expert technical guidance on equipment selection system design optimization and energy efficiency strategies
• Lead MEP coordination meetings to resolve spatial conflicts and integration issues between different building systems
• Oversee testing commissioning and handover of MEP installations ensuring full functionality and compliance

Project Management

• Manage the MEP component of multiple concurrent fit-out projects throughout their entire lifecycle
• Develop detailed MEP execution schedules resource plans and budget requirements
• Monitor and control MEP-related costs ensuring adherence to established budgets
• Identify assess and mitigate MEP-specific risks that could impact project delivery
• Prepare accurate technical submittals and procurement documentation for MEP equipment and materials
• Coordinate with suppliers and specialists to ensure timely delivery of critical MEP components
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify MEP installation quality and progress
• Generate comprehensive technical reports documenting MEP system performance and project status

Client Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary technical MEP advisor during client consultations and progress meetings
• Translate complex MEP requirements and concepts into clear understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders
• Lead technical discussions regarding MEP system options limitations and optimization possibilities
• Negotiate realistic timelines and technical parameters with clients based on project constraints
• Address and resolve client concerns related to MEP systems promptly and efficiently
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key client technical representatives

Team Leadership

• Supervise and mentor a team of MEP coordinators engineers and technical specialists
• Allocate technical resources effectively across multiple projects based on complexity and requirements
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to team members
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify professional development opportunities for team members
• Foster a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices implementation within the MEP team

Required Qualifications & Skills

Technical Expertise

• Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC ventilation air conditioning)
• Strong understanding of electrical systems (power distribution lighting emergency systems)
• Practical knowledge of plumbing systems (water supply drainage sanitary systems)
• Familiarity with fire protection systems (sprinklers fire alarms smoke control)
• Expertise in MEP system integration within constrained existing building environments
• Ability to interpret and validate complex MEP technical documentation and calculations
• Understanding of energy efficiency principles and sustainable building practices
• Knowledge of building automation systems and controls

Soft Skills

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with analytical approach to technical challenges
• Strong project management capabilities with attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions with diverse audiences
• Effective negotiation and conflict resolution abilities

Technical Tools Proficiency

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP
• Experience with BIM coordination tools for clash detection and system integration
• Proficiency in MEP load calculation and system sizing software
• Working knowledge of energy modeling and analysis tools
• Competence with MS Project Primavera or similar project management software
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for technical calculations and budgeting
• Experience with cloud-based collaboration platforms for document management

Education Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical or Building Services Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent professional qualification preferred
• LEED AP WELL AP or similar sustainability credentials considered an advantage
• Specialized MEP certifications such as Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) or similar valued

Industry-Specific Experience

• 6-8 years of progressive experience specifically in MEP coordination for commercial fit-out projects
• Demonstrated expertise in managing complex MEP renovations within occupied buildings
• Proven track record of successfully delivering MEP systems for diverse project types (retail corporate offices hospitality)
• Experience resolving technical MEP challenges in heritage or challenging existing buildings
• Background in value engineering and cost optimization for MEP systems
• Familiarity with local building codes regulations and utility requirements
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders including landlords tenants and facilities teams

Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to: Technical Director / Head of MEP Services
• Supervises: MEP Coordinators MEP Engineers Technical Specialists and Site Supervisors

Key Performance Indicators

• Technical accuracy and quality of MEP deliverables with minimized change orders
• Adherence to MEP budgets with effective cost control measures
• On-time completion of MEP milestones within project schedules
• Client satisfaction ratings specific to MEP system performance and integration
• Successful MEP system commissioning with minimal defects
• Regulatory compliance achievement with zero major violations
• Efficiency improvements and innovative solutions implemented
