Key Responsibilities

As the Business Development Manager Industrial Automation you will be responsible for growing the companys footprint within refineries and process facilities across the Edmonton region. You will combine technical knowledge with strategic sales execution to deliver value-driven solutions to complex industrial challenges.

Market Strategy & Development:

  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan targeting refineries oil & gas processing plants and other industrial facilities.
  • Identify key stakeholders build account plans and drive project-based selling efforts.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Establish strong working relationships with plant engineers maintenance managers procurement teams and project leaders at refineries and industrial sites.
  • Conduct regular client site visits technical presentations and discovery meetings.

Sales & Technical Collaboration:

  • Propose tailored automation and instrumentation solutions to meet unique operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure solution accuracy and implementation success.

Territory Coverage:

  • Based in Edmonton with local travel to client sites across Northern and Central Alberta.
  • Balance client-facing time with CRM tracking quoting and account strategy work.

Results Expected

  • Achieve $36 million in annual revenue through refinery and industrial sector accounts.
  • Secure new business and expand relationships with existing clients.
  • Deliver consistent year-over-year growth in a competitive market.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering Automation Instrumentation or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales automation or industrial instrumentation preferably with exposure to refineries or oil & gas facilities.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of control systems SCADA PLC/DCS and instrumentation used in refining and process plants.
  • Capable of interpreting technical drawings datasheets and P&IDs.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms; Salesforce experience is a plus.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently prioritize opportunities and manage a sales funnel.
  • Confident engaging with engineers operations personnel and senior decision-makers.
