This is a part-time unpaid internship (1015 hours/week) ideal for students interested in communications digital strategy and advocacy. Interns will gain experience in ethical storytelling campaign planning and how communications functions within a mission-driven organization. Course credit available upon request.

About the Position
Reporting to the Manager of Communications the Communications Intern will support Restores digital communications advocacy and storytelling efforts. This is an unpaid part-time position designed to enhance a students experience in nonprofit communications and marketing. It requires a minimum commitment of 1015 hours per week.
This role offers a unique opportunity to learn how nonprofit communications supports audience growth donor engagement advocacy and mission awareness. Interns will gain hands-on experience in ethical storytelling digital strategy and content planning and work collaboratively with the Communications Manager to help grow Restores reach retain supporters and strengthen public understanding.
Specific Responsibilities
- Social Media Management: Assist in planning drafting and scheduling social media content (Instagram Facebook LinkedIn X). Monitor DMs comments and tags to help engage Restores online community and grow our digital presence.
- Analytics & Reporting: Track performance across channels and assist in compiling regular reports with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Campaign Support: Contribute to communications for key awareness and fundraising campaigns including Human Trafficking Awareness Month year-end giving and Restore-led events.
- Storytelling Support: Contribute to Restores storytelling efforts by helping draft organize and prepare content that reflects the experiences of survivors and the impact of Restores work. This includes maintaining ethical and trauma-informed storytelling practices across platforms.
- Content Library Management: Organize and maintain Restores archive of stories graphics and campaign materials for internal use.
Qualifications
- A current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in Communications Marketing or a related program with a demonstrated passion for social justice and a strong commitment to the healing and well-being of survivors of trafficking
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different platforms and audiences
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite Later)
- Basic graphic design skills and a willingness to learn new tools (e.g. Canva)
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative problem-solve and work independently when needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable working with a small mission-driven team
- Demonstrated commitment to self-awareness and engagement of continuous learning around issues of diversity equity and inclusion (DEI).

Additional Information
This is an unpaid part-time position requiring a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week including 4 hours per week in-person at our Midtown Office.
We are looking for someone who can start in mid-September and would be willing to commit to a full academic semester. Please let us know if these work hours can be used toward course credit and we will support you with any required paperwork.
We will consider applicants who are undergraduate students or graduate students with experience or interest in anti-human trafficking human rights or services to exploited and vulnerable populations.
Restore NYC is a Christian faith-based organization; interns do not have to profess the Christian faith but must respect our values. We help survivors regardless of their religion and spiritual activities are optional for every client.
