Job Description

Employment Type: Full Time 35 hours per week (Part Time 28 hours per week maybe considered for the right candidate)

Duration: Up Until 30 June 2029

Remuneration: Professional Level 9 148K- $157K per annum (based on experience) 17% super Annual Leave Loading

Location: Kensington New South Wales

Why this role matters:

The Centre Manager plays a pivotal leadership role within the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) Faculty of Medicine and Health providing strategic operational leadership and overseeing the daytoday management of the Centre. This position is responsible for leading the Centres operations team ensuring the efficient delivery of services that support academic staff researchers and students and enabling the Centre to achieve its strategic and operational objectives.

Reporting to the Centre Director the Centre Manager provides highlevel strategic and operational advice contributes expert input into the development and implementation of the Centres strategy policies and planning and ensures alignment with Faculty and University priorities. The role has direct responsibility for managing staff budgets facilities and resources as well as ensuring effective governance financial accountability and operational efficiency.

Key to the success of this role is the ability to foster strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including senior leaders across the University research partners and funding bodies. The Centre Manager will also lead the development of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies ensuring effective collaboration and promoting the Centres profile and achievements.

This role requires a proactive leader who can balance strategic planning with handson operational management drive continuous improvement and cultivate a positive inclusive and collaborative workplace culture that supports ARCCSs mission and longterm success.

Skills Required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
  • Proven experience in research management and administration.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team with a commitment to staff development while driving continuous improvement in processes and performance.
  • High level organisational skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills in budget development for funding applications and ongoing management of funds.
  • Experience in administering research contracts and meeting external obligations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff students management and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed skills in problem solving negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets database applications email protocols and internet interfaces.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying sources of funding and dealing with external sponsors both in the government sector and charitable institutions.
  • Ability and capacity to direct and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the safety management system.
