As a Mobility Project Engineer you will be at the forefront of integrating transportation and land use planning to achieve City goals set out in the City Plan Edmontons combined Municipal Development Plan and Transportation Master Plan. You will play a key role in developing transportation policy and analyzing the citys mobility network in order to inform plans for the future. Working with a diverse team of professionals you will provide your engineering expertise to ensure that Edmontons growth is smart sustainable and serves all its citizens. This position requires a creative and analytical mind that can navigate the complexities of city-building and advocate for innovative mobility solutions. You will be a key contributor to The City Plan helping to shape a more connected and accessible Edmonton for generations to come!
What will you do:
- Lead and support complex engineering studies to plan and assess Edmontons multi-modal transportation network
- Analyze the current mobility system to identify infrastructure gaps and ensure alignment with city plans and policies
- Research and champion innovative mobility planning and engineering practices from around the world
- Collaborate with internal and external collaborators to develop uniquely Edmonton solutions to mobility challenges
- Plan and complete internal and public engagement to support strategy development
- Manage and analyze transportation network data using GIS to create maps for planning and monitoring
- Review engineering design drawings and technical reports to ensure they align with our citys policies
- Provide your expert opinion on planning and design issues for various transportation infrastructure projects
- Prepare technical summaries and reports for senior leadership to support informed decision-making
- Support the response to City Council motions related to transportation network assessment and policy
- Authenticate professional work products including technical assessments and reports in accordance with APEGA and City of Edmonton standards
- Manage mobility studies and tasks from scoping and planning to execution and delivery
- Procurement and project management of smaller projects where consulting services are required
- Lead project meetings and ensure clear communication among team members and collaborators
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other City departments consultants and community groups
- Mentor and support junior staff helping them develop their technical and communication skills
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering with a focus on Transportation Engineering Transportation Planning or Land Use Planning
- Must be a Professional Engineer () in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employment
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible engineering experience

Assets:
- Knowledge of transportation design guidelines and best practices from sources like the City of Edmonton TAC Alberta Transportation and NACTO
- Experience with transportation demand models and traffic modeling software such as Emme Synchro or VISSIM
- Proficiency with exploratory data analysis data visualization and drawing insights from historical data
- Working knowledge of GIS software
- Experience with the development and explanation of land use and transportation models
Work Environment:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office and will require site visits / inspections of construction sites.
