Job Description
Job Summary The Floor Technician in the Maintenance department is responsible for polishing repairing and cleaning the floors in addition to carrying out other cleaning and related tasks within the building using hand-operated tools at Cardinal IG a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all company policies procedures safety practices and guidelines
- Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor
- Proficient in stripping cleaning buffing waxing sanding and applying finishing products to concrete floors
- Skilled in using high-speed floor buffers and polishers as well as maintaining assigned power equipment and hand tools
- Capable of inspecting floors to determine the appropriate tools necessary and performing minor repairs as needed
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficient in organizing and planning areas that require cleaning
- Effective in communicating with other departments as needed
- Responsible for ensuring the buildings security when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors
- Follow written and verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals supplies and equipment accurately
- Operates and maintains floor care equipment such as buffers scrubbers vacuums and polishers
- Ensure safety compliance during all maintenance tasks including proper signage and equipment handling
- Replenish cleaning supplies and maintain inventory of floor care products
- Assists in moving heavy items to access floor areas for cleaning
- Inspect the condition of floors to ensure it is presentable and safe meeting or exceeding Cardinal expectations
- Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area
- Assist the team leads and management in achieving departmental objectives
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills including attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively
- May be required to work overtime different shifts and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines
- Requires regular in-person attendance
Workplace Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects
- Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant
- May require extended periods of standing bending and lifting
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Obtains knowledge of different flooring materials and appropriate care techniques
- Ability to operate specialized machinery safely and effectively
- Commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Strong attention to detail

Thursday-Sunday 6:00 AM- 4:30 PM
Pay: $22.00/hour
Bonus - Potential Monthly Profit Sharing for all Shifts
