About the team

Our tax team works with Stripes across the company to develop an efficient operating model as our international business scales and expands into new markets and launches new products. We are looking for a well-rounded tax professional to support our India and APAC tax operations.

This role will primarily be responsible for our Indian entities in addition they will support our operations throughout APAC. You will help support and develop corporate and indirect tax compliance and control processes assist with tax controversy matters operational governance business support including product and market expansion and any planning efforts impacting our APAC operations. You will work for a rapidly growing company in a fast paced environment while collaborating with numerous functional teams across our organisation. The position will be based in Bangalore and report to the APAC Head of Tax.

What You will do:

  • Collaborate with the international accounting team and tax advisers on India indirect and corporate tax compliance for our Indian entities including ensuring support and documentation is in place as well as managing tax controversy matters in India.
  • Support the other members of the APAC tax team across various tax workstreams in APAC.
  • Work with the global tax team and the wider international finance team to identify tax issues risks and opportunities provide tax support to the business and finance teams and assist in implementing tax projects.
  • Collaborate with various cross-functional groups within Stripe to support market and product expansion and operations in APAC.

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5 years of relevant international tax experience in Big 4 law firm and/or a multinational organisation
  • Professional qualification (Chartered Accountancy or similar) and strong knowledge of Indian tax law and familiarity of tax issues for a multinational company
  • An interest in expanding your knowledge of APAC tax related matters
  • A proven ability to research and communicate technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members and work effectively across all functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to changes in tax laws as well as changes in our business
  • Hands-on independent able to multitask and prioritise

It would be nice if you have:

  • Experience working in a high-growth rapidly scaling environment
  • APAC tax related experience
  • Industry experience working in technology payments or financial services is a plus
  • A willingness to work with a diverse crew of tax nerds who care deeply about Stripes tax issues and each other
