We currently have an exciting new opportunity to join our law firm (DLG Legal Services) as a Risk and Compliance Lead. This is a permanent and full-time position that can be based from our Leeds Bromley or Bristol office (hybrid working).
The role
This role sits within the DLG Legal Services risk and compliance function and takes primary responsibility for the delivery and ongoing management of a risk control framework appropriate to a stand-alone business regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) but aligned to the wider risk control framework of a large FCA regulated business.
You will report to Head of Legal Practice who has overall accountability for the regulatory compliance of the SRA regulated entity including the appropriate identification and management of risk.
What youll be doing
The role holder will demonstrate a strong attention to detail and communication skills to identify risks and work with the business to put in place operational improvements and mitigating processes. The role will also include analysis and reporting against key metrics.
Leading and managing the delivery and maintenance of risk control frameworks for DLG Legal Services to ensure key business risks are identified and mitigated.
Liaising with wider Group Risk colleagues to align DLG Legal Services risk framework to wider Group framework and related reporting requirements.
Working with the Head of Legal Practice to ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements by the business with appropriate local control activity
Identifying building managing and testing multiple controls to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and effective risk management
Support the business in its compliance with wider Group risk management processes and controls
Identifying and reporting issues and events as appropriate and provide guidance and oversight of appropriate remedial activity to bring risks back within appetite.
Liaising with process and control owners with the business and other stakeholders within DLG to ensure effective management of control processes and identification of improvement opportunities
Leading and managing the implementation of business control changes and improvements in line with business requirements.
Providing risk management advice and guidance and oversight for a range of business activities in particular relating to business change activity and projects.
Identifying recommending and leading or contributing to the implementation of business development initiatives and projects as required to ensure that business risks are appropriately managed
Managing stakeholder relationships building knowledge and expertise across in the business in the identification and management of risk.
Preparing required reporting both regular and ad-hoc to ensure the businesses risk position is understood and where required mitigation is in place.
Where required lead and contribute to governance activity in line with relevant frameworks.
What youll need
Great understanding of risk management in a regulated environment experience of SRA regulatory regime advantageous but not required.
Experience of designing and delivering a control framework within a highly regulated environment
Knowledge and practical experience of a 3 lines of defence risk management model
Experience of preparing reports relating to business risks to ensure issues are understood and appropriately mitigated.
