Job Description

JOB GOAL:

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation classroom environment instruction and professional responsibilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus benefit : Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.FLSA: EXEMPT.

NOTE: The successful candidate must have a willingness to participate in on-going professional development summer 2025 and continuing throughout the school year both on and off contract times when requested by the Administration. Appropriate compensation will be given within the compensation guidelines of licensed personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university teacher education program.
  2. Arkansas teachers license appropriate for level and subject area assignment. Math and Science certification (6th 8th grade).
  3. Relevant teaching experience. Middle level experience preferred.
  4. Working knowledge of relevant technology
  5. Demonstrates skills and confidence around activity- project- and problem-based (APB) learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  1. Embraces the role of teacher as coach and facilitator while providing a classroom culture of exploration and student-focused learning experiences through their Project Lead the Way (PLTW) coursework.
  2. Provides one-on-one guidance and support for students pursuing individualized design and technology projects that may include the use of digital creation/fabrication tools.
  3. Demonstrates success at using the Inquiry Process to create a student-centered learning environment.
  4. Commits to fully participate in the Project Lead the Way Core Training as well as the ongoing learning opportunities to develop the skills and tools needed to inspire students to be successful with the PLTW curriculum.
  5. Embrace the K-8 school configuration and best practices with high expectations and promote student success while adopting a student-centered focus that allows students to grow socially emotionally physically and academically.
  6. Supports the vision and mission of JA Fair Preparatory School by working collaboratively with the administration and ALL staff to create a positive safe and kid friendly learning environment.
  7. Demonstrates strong work ethics a passion for creativity and always open minded to new and innovative ideas.
  8. Teaches assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education LRSD Curriculum Guides and other appropriate learning activities. Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management both internal and external to the District.
  9. Participate and successfully complete the required Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and The Leader in Me professional development beginning July 2021 and continuing throughout the school year both on and off contract.
  10. Evidence of the ability and willingness to successfully integrate the PLTW curriculum where feasible for PLTW Gateway.
  11. Teaches assigned subject area using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education LRSD Curriculum Guides and other appropriate learning activities. Communicates effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management both internal and external to the District.
  12. Planning and Preparation:Plans prepares and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences demonstrating pedagogy knowledge of students instructional goals knowledge of resources coherent instruction and assessing student learning.
  13. Classroom Environment:Establishes a culture of learning: managing classroom procedure and student behavior as well as organizing physical space. Applies appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  14. Instruction:Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved communicating with students using questioning and discussion techniques engaging students in learning using assessment in instruction utilizing technology STEM concepts and inquiry methodologies into units and lessons. Effectively infuses technology into instructional activities and the overall learning experiences.
  15. Professional Responsibilities:Develops and adheres to professional responsibilities reflecting on teaching maintaining accurate records communication with families contributing to the assigned School and the District at large growing and developing professionally showing professionalism using data to inform instruction etc.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
