Job Summary:
Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of Company vehicles heavy and light equipment.
Fleet Maintenance
Repairs and maintains all company vehicles including heavy equipment to ensure that vehicles and equipment are maintained is safe working order.
- Develops implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs for all vehicles and equipment.
- Repairs and overhauls defective power components such as engine transmission or differentials.
- Repairs replaces and adjusts brakes.
- Repairs ignition system fuel systems and electrical systems as required.
- Repairs or replaces shock absorbers.
- Installs and repairs accessories such as radios heaters mirrors and windshield wipers.
- Repairs and services coolant systems as required.
- Replaces and adjusts headlights.
- Examines vehicles and provides managers with written assessment of damage or malfunction as necessary.
- Performs minor body repairs.
- Regularly performs oil changes.
- Maintains and repairs small equipment including pumps pipe saws generators trailer mounted power units road saws and chain saws.
- Performs welding on equipment as needed.
- Completes state safety & emission inspection on all Company vehicles and trailers in compliance with NH state law.
- Maintains schedules and records on repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Keeps manager informed of status of vehicles.
Technical Support
Trains coordinates and monitors the work of other employees assigned to the repair and maintenance of all assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Advises maintenance staff in complex repair situations.
- Demonstrates proper safety methods and practices. Oversees operations to ensure adherence to all guidelines.
- Maintains current on the principles practices and new developments in fleet maintenance.
- Attend meetings conferences workshops and training sessions.
- Reviews publications and audio visual materials.
Inventory
- Conduct regular inventory on oil grease and motor parts. Ensure that sufficient inventory of items are on site. Order inventory as necessary.
- Participate in inventory counts as required.
Vehicle and Equipment Readiness
Ensure that assigned vehicle equipment and inventory are maintained at a level ready to perform assigned tasks.
- Check vehicles to ensure that gas oil and tire pressure levels are sufficient. Refuel or replenish as necessary. Refer problems to mechanic.
- Monitor parts inventory on vehicle and complete paperwork to request additional parts needed to maintain inventory or to perform assigned task.
General Administrative Requirements
Accurately and fully complete and return all administrative reports on a timely basis. This includes timesheets work orders service records and inspection reports.
General Maintenance
Perform a variety of general maintenance duties to support the efficient operation of the Company. This includes but is not limited to:
- Clean and organize vehicle maintenance shop and garage.
- Operate backhoe and fork truck for unloading fittings.
- Shovel and plow snow at company facilities.
- Perform minor building maintenance.
- Wash and wax vehicles exterior. Clean interior as needed.
Master Mechanic Requirements:
- 12 months of experience as a Mechanic has a valid CDL-B License and is deemed to be fully qualified by means of training and experience and is thoroughly knowledgeable of all aspects of the duties of the position of Mechanic.
- There is only one Master Mechanic position within the Company.
