Description

The City of Richmond Public Library (RPL) seeks a dynamic enthusiastic and hardworking person to join its team as a Part-time Management Analyst Associate for the Read with Ripple Program. The incumbent will be a self-motivated individual who is a self-starter excellent communicator and listener team player problem solver and most importantly exudes exceptional customer service. The selected candidate will join a dynamic team of individuals focused on providing excellent prompt and accurate services to both external and internal customers while achieving the following mission: Inform Enrich Empower.

This position is a part-time (20 hours/week) role at Richmond Public Library (RPL). This position will work under the direct supervision of the Read with Ripple Program Coordinator and in close collaboration with the RPL Youth Service Coordinator.


This class provides administration of the Read with Ripple program. Incumbents provide professional support of a program. As assigned work may include data gathering basic analysis developing recommendations and reports. Individual will coordinate the administrative aspects of the Read with Ripple program. May assist senior analytical staff and supervisors/managers; serving as a liaison to functions outside of the department including but not limited to purchase orders and invoices serving as the primary point of contact for information dissemination and data gathering; updating and maintaining databases; recommending changes drafting language and ensuring dissemination of same; coordinating program functions and events.

The position requires a professional and engaging approach to literacy work. Incumbent will work closely with literacy partners from schools to daycares across the city. Position requires the ability to build and maintain relationships with volunteers and professionals. Scheduling acumen and experience managing volunteers is necessary. May be required to represent RPL at meetings.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Coordinates and manages programs and projects; prepares necessary forms and other documentation; performs necessary administrative duties related to programs.
  • Receives collects and enters data and other information in databases or related systems; compiles and analyzes data reaches conclusions and recommends proposals; summarizes and reports as necessary.
  • Prepares distributes and submits reports logs notes and other documentation.
  • Assists with special programs and projects.


This position is considered an Essential Personnel which means that the incumbent is required to work when the City is closed due to public emergencies critical or hazardous conditions or inclement weather.

Qualifications Special Certifications and Licenses

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: These are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.

Knowledge (some combination of the following):

  • Knowledge of Early Literacy and/or Child Development skills and concepts
  • General knowledge of the early literacy landscape in Richmond
  • Understanding of Richmond Public Preschool childcare and daycare structures
  • General knowledge of Richmond Public Librarys early literacy outreach efforts (formerly known as RVA Reads)
  • Electronic databases and related software applications
  • Thorough knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

  • Scheduling volunteers using electronic systems
  • Schedule site visits with partners
  • Working with library staff and administrators

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in business/public administration or field related to assignment
  • Two years of paraprofessional experience in area related to assignment such as assisting with program or project administration and management analysis
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

LICENSING CERTIFICATIONS and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some assignments may require a valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Drivers License within 30 days of hire.
  • The successful applicant must pass a background check.

The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly talk hear and see; frequently reach and perform repetitive motions; and occasionally stoop kneel crouch stand walk push pull lift finger grasp and feel. The working conditions may not include environmental terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties this classification is considered to be sedentary exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
