The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Southcoast Region Maintenance & Operations in Juneau is looking for anEquipment Operator Journey 1 / 2 to help usKeep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:
Equipment Operator - Journey 1
The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journey-level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavy-duty equipment will be in a training capacity.
Equipment Operator - Journey 2
The incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeyman level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. Shift work may be required.

Required Information

At time of interview applicant must submit:

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.


COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED

This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383) to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

  • Equipment Operatory Journey 1
    Hire approval is conditional in that the proposed appointee successfully obtains a Class A Alaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire and signs an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

  • Equipment Operator Journey 2
    A Class AAlaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain an N-Tanker endorsement within 90 daysof hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Equipment Operator Journey 1 orEquipment Operator Journey 2 level depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1 promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
