Location: Audie L Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital San Antonio TX
Type: Full-Time Contract (FTE)
Agency: Department of Veterans Affairs STVHCS
Work Schedule:
Regular: MondayFriday 8:00 am 4:30 pm
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Autotransfusionist to join our surgical services team. This role is critical in supporting blood salvage operations during surgical procedures and ensuring high-functioning well-maintained equipment for transfusion services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate the autotransfusion pump for surgical procedures (non-cardiac and cardiac as applicable)
- Perform scheduled maintenance and coordinate repairs for assigned VA-owned equipment
- Maintain detailed documentation of equipment status maintenance logs and usage
- Provide procedure notes and clinical documentation in accordance with VA policy
- Participate in monthly and quarterly performance review reports
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Autotransfusionist (current valid certification required)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in surgical and trauma environments
- Documented history of maintaining certification through continuing education (CEUs)
- Unrestricted license or certification (as applicable).
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Must meet VA credentialing standards and pass required screenings and immunizations

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
