At LDOE the Division of Academic Contents mission is to advance high-quality teaching and learning in every Louisiana classroom by developing supporting and sustaining academic programs that empower educators and elevate student achievement. We collaborate across teams and with partners to implement impactful initiatives that ensure every educator has the tools resources and guidance needed to help all students thrive.

This leadership role is at the forefront of curriculum development instructional materials review and educational technology integration across Louisianas K-12 system. As the Director of Special Projects this position oversees transformative programs like the online instructional materials review (IMR) process Teacher Leader Advisor program and statewide digital learning strategies. Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking collaboration and the ability to manage diverse teams and complex projects.

The Office of Teaching & Learning - Academic Content is looking for someone with the following qualities and skillset:
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in leading teams managing complex projects and supervising professional staff in an educational or governmental setting.
  • Program Management Expertise: Proven ability to design implement and evaluate large-scale educational programs particularly in areas of curriculum development instructional materials review or digital learning initiatives.
  • Instructional Materials and Standards Knowledge: Deep understanding of state and federal laws policies and best practices related to instructional materials selection content standards alignment and educational technology integration.
  • Strategic Planning and Collaboration Skills: Experience developing and executing strategic initiatives across multiple teams and organizations with the ability to build partnerships with local education agencies vendors and national organizations.
  • Professional Development Delivery: Skilled in designing and facilitating professional learning for educators and leaders with strong presentation and communication abilities.
  • Data-Informed Decision Making: Ability to analyze and interpret educational data to inform program decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Policy Interpretation: Strong capability in interpreting legislation and policy and translating them into actionable guidance for educators and district leaders.
  • Change Management: Experience leading teams and organizations through change ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and stakeholder needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Nine years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus six years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus six years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus five years of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As an Education Consultant Supervisor youll report directly to the Division Director and supervise two Education Consultants and an Education Technology Senior this role you will:
  • Lead and oversee key statewide programs including the online Instructional Materials Review (IMR) process the Teacher Leader Advisor program and K-12 educational technology initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of professional staff providing guidance performance evaluations and support to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Collaborate across LDOE divisions and with external partners to align curriculum standards assessments and professional learning resources.
  • Develop monitor and manage program budgets ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance to districts and schools on curriculum selection instructional resources high-quality professional learning and integrating digital learning strategies.
  • Investigate analyze and reporton the efficacy of professional learning.
  • Stay informed on state and federal education policies and translate them into actionable strategies for programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-team strategic initiatives and support logistics for statewide academic content commissions and events.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational Promotional or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

**Note regarding the advertised pay range:The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and notthe maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
