The Director of Grants and Strategic Resource Development is responsible for identifying and securing grants to support operations new and existing academic programs and capital projects as well as monitoring/managing new and select existing grants the College has received. The individual reports to the Vice President of External Affairs. The Director of Grants and Strategic Resource Development is expected to work collaboratively with the executive leadership team ensuring that grant opportunities align with the Colleges Mission Strategic Plan and operational and capital needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify grant opportunities write and prepare grant proposals and submit to secure external funding (public and private) to align with capital programmatic and operational needs that support the colleges mission and institutional priorities.
- Convene and regularly hold planning meetings with key College personnel to identify and update the capital and operational needs and priorities.
- Collaborate closely with faculty chairs program directors the finance team and executive leadership to meet the needs of students faculty and staff and the communities the college serves.
- Inform the College community about grant opportunities awards and related funding possibilitiesand offer grant seminars for interested faculty and staff.
- Maintain an inventory of grants awarded to the College and report periodically to the Vice President of External Affairs including funding agency contact information reporting requirements timelines and other relevant information.
- Become familiar with and incorporate the use of grant research tools to promote the internal grants process.
- Coordinate monitor and manage new and select existing grants including fiscal records budgets and budget amendments compliance dates and required reports.
- Ensure that all post-award activities are completed and compliant including financial oversight reporting deliverables and the close-out process.
- Work with appropriate College personnel (e.g. Comptroller and Director of Administrative Services) to ensure regulation compliance and monitor financial records contracts reports billing and audits related to grants received by the College.
- Develop a database containing information on grant and other funding opportunities available applied for and outcomes.
- Review the Colleges current grant workflow process and make recommendations for improvement.
- Engage with other fundraising activities as requested by the Vice President of External Affairs.
- Serve on College committees and participate in shared governance.
- Develop with the supervisor and maintain a professional growth plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of External Affairs.
Principal Performance Requirements:
- Identify and coordinate the grants needed to support the colleges operational and capital objectives including at the department/program level.
- Increase the dollar volume of the grants awarded to the College through external funding aligned with the Colleges operational and capital priorities.
- Coordinate with the Vice President of External Affairs to avoid overlap and provide synergy in the efforts of faculty deans and senior administrative staff.
- Develop annual grant projects in such a way that the position is budget-neutral.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with preference for a writing-intensive discipline including but not limited to English Journalism Marketing History or related fields. Masters degree and/or Certified Grant Writer or equivalent credential preferred.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in grant-related work including grant writing and administration. Demonstrated success in applying for and receiving grant awards including serving as the lead author of those applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office setting or a typical classroom or laboratory setting with appropriate climate controls.
Minimum starting salary is $49100 annually ($25.17 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $61400.
