Sections can be selected based on your qualifications deemed qualifications and/or mutual consent.

Otherwise if the minimum number of sections you state is not available you are no longer interested in that position at that school and your subsequent choice(s) if any are considered. Please ensure if you are applying to sections at multiple schools for different semesters the individual sections schools and semesters are listed all in one (1) preference box. YOU MUST LIST THE SCHOOL SPECIFIC COURSE CODE AND SEMESTER.

To be considered for mutual consent you must provide appropriate rationale in the respective job posting question below. Rationale must relate to the criteria outlined in Article 21.15.01.01 of your OSSTF Collective Agreement (see below.)

Secondary Collective Agreement Article 21.15.01.01 - Mutual Consent

In assessing whether to offer mutual consent for any sections to an unqualified teacher a Principal shall consider each teacher individually and in order of seniority and shall consider the following criteria:

1) professional learning standards and/or

2) related experience and/or

3) whether the most recent evaluation on file is below standards and/or

4) whether any discipline within the previous 12 months that is not the subject of an unresolved grievance might materially affect the ability of the teacher to teach the section(s) without problems and/or

5) the relevance of qualifications and/or prior to teaching experience to the sections to be taught (although not meant to be or considered as a proscriptive two examples of many variations and possibilities include: English experience being assessed for teaching History and vice versa would be sufficiently relevant but English experience for teaching Physics or Math and vice versa would not be sufficiently relevant).

The UCDSB requires your current and two most recent direct supervisors.

If your experience is in a day-to-day occasional capacity ensure that you list the length of time that you worked for that Supervisor and whether the assignment was casual day-to-day or in a long-term occasional capacity.

Placement Teacher References: If providing a Placement Teacher as a reference the UCDSB will require confirmation and approval from the Principal at the Placement School that the deferred reference (Placement Teacher) is approved to provide reference on behalf of the Principal.

The UCDSB does not accept colleagues or personal relationships as references.

Selection Process:

Positions are filled in accordance with the OSSTF Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement and/or PPM 165 where applicable.

The UCDSB selection process includes a review of required qualifications interview and assessment process and reference checks. All employment offers are conditional on candidates providing a valid criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
