Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director and/or the Manager of Environmental Care the Supervisor is responsible for delivering quality and reliable services to the JHBMC community that includes patients families health care providers researchers staff and visitors. The Environmental Care Supervisor is responsible for developing daily priorities to achieve departmental objectives and goals and to support the programmatic and fiscal strategies for the department. Ensures that performance standards meet the service expectations of a broad client base monitors productivity tracks progress and customer satisfaction and maintains effective communications with clients and stakeholders. Ensures work quality and performance in compliance with Departmental and Hospital standards procedures and policies; the collective bargaining agreement; and local state and federal codes. Utilizes quality as-surance tools effectively to ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness (i.e. checklists). Provides excellent customer service to patients families and staff. Works with staff to improve HCAHPS and Press Ganey scores and strives to meet and surpass Hospital goals for HCAHPS. Works with staff to ensure consistently high cleanliness scores (i.e. Dazo) coordinates the development implementation and maintenance of programs routines and schedules. Plans schedules assigns directs and supervises the work performed by bargaining unit staff. Works closely with other Facilities staff members to ensure a well-coordinated provision of environmental services. Supports safety programs for the continual maintenance of a safe work place and a safety conscious staff. Directly supervises staff in the delivery of programs necessary to maintain clean facilities in the most efficient and effective manner. Participates in the hiring training evaluation and termination of staff as required. Evaluates and makes recommendations on equipment supplies and procedures. Ensures that all activities and programs are accomplished in accordance with statutory requirements and regulatory guidelines. Performs other related duties as required. This work is performed under limited supervision.
II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Budget Responsibility:
Requisitions of in-house stock materials.
Requests purchase of non-stock items equipment and vendor services. Amounts vary and are usually charged to departmental cost center but may be subsequently allocated otherwise.
Effectively uses resources within control.
Participates in the development of cost center annual operating budget.
Manages labor resources (i.e. approving overtime unpaid leave etc.) to meet the operating and fiscal goals of the department.
Authority/Decision Making Level:
Makes decisions as required to ensure department is operating within department policies and procedures.
Makes decisions based on industry practices and direction given by Manager as appropriate for the scope of this position.
Plans schedules and estimates the materials labor and vendor services required to perform work requests outside of routine services.
Prioritizes and organizes work to meet changing needs.
Recommends and participates in departmental cleaning operations development improvement and implementation as it relates to current/anticipated workload.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Has responsibility for hiring managing and terminating assigned staff.
Performs routine quality assurance assessments and annual performance reviews mentors and guides staff too effectively and consistently performed assigned responsibilities; trains staff to perform job functions and to ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental requirements; mentors staff in career development; enforces Hospital and departmental procedures and policies consistently and fairly.
Problem Solving
Possesses the ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.
Uses defined procedures and experienced judgment to identify investigate analyze diagnose and resolve routine and complex cleaning floor care and trash removal issues; equipment problems incidents and emergencies.
Researches and recommends changes to improve cleaning floor care and trash removal procedures reduce costs eliminate steps and maximize use of available technology.
Escalates problems beyond the Supervisors span of control and reports incidents to Manager as appropriate.
Information Management:
Functional knowledge of computer applications (PC- and network-based) including Windows departmental e-mail word processing database spreadsheet and maintenance/work order processing applications packages.
Reads and interprets floor plans service manuals and other technical documents.
Follows instructions provided by written materials work orders and oral instruction.
Communicates (written and oral) with Manager and departmental/JHM staff.
Documents findings conclusions recommendations and action taken in the form of notes memoranda and standard forms and reports.
Assimilates JHH/departmental mission policies and procedures as well as specific job safety aspects

Salary Range: Minimum 24.92/hour - Maximum 43.63/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
