Job Description

Description

This position serves a dual role leading campus-wide health promotion initiatives and functioning as the divisions primary data specialist. This position is responsible for designing implementing and evaluating student-centered programs as well as managing analyzing and reporting data related to student success engagement retention and well-being across the Division of Student Affairs. This role advances both the institutional mission and strategic plan by integrating evidence-based practices with data-informed decision-making to foster a thriving and welcoming campus community.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop and implement health education campaigns that focus on key areas essential for student well-being including mental health nutrition sleep and stress management;
  • Coordinate collaborations across campus with departments faculty student organizations and community partners to deliver data-driven programming to students;
  • Lead campus-wide initiatives that promote a health-promoting university model and support student retention and success;
  • Collect and assess health-related data (e.g. ACHA-NCHA program evaluations) to inform initiatives and report outcomes;
  • Serve as a resource on emerging health trends and best practices in college health promotion;
  • Serve as the divisional lead for compiling managing and analyzing key student affairs data sets including engagement metrics learning outcomes retention data and participation in student support programs;
  • Coordinate division-wide assessment efforts and assist departments with developing and refining data collection and reporting tools;
  • Create dashboards executive summaries and visualizations that support strategic planning and demonstrate impact;
  • Collaborate with institutional research and campus partners to align student affairs metrics with university-wide goals and strategic plan;
  • Provide training and consultation to departments within the division on assessment planning and use of data for departmental impact and program improvement;
  • Advise the healthy lion council assisting with recruiting and educating all students participating in the registered student organization (RSO);
  • Assist with training and developing graduate assistants (GAs) and student interns;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of the American College Health Associations standards of practice for health promotion in higher education;
  • Experience conducting program evaluations interpreting findings and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to the findings;
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed;
  • Ability to collect analyze and communicate complex data clearly to diverse audiences;
  • Ability to identify and write grants to support programs and initiatives;
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal initiative teamwork problem-solving independent judgment organization communication (verbal and written) time management project management and presentation skills;
  • Strong attention to detail follow-up customer service and phone and email etiquette;
  • Knowledge of the Okanagan Charter and Health Promoting Campus Network initiatives;
  • Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse student populations;
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and health communication strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in public health health promotion higher education student affairs or a related field is required;
  • At least two years of professional experience in health education or wellness programming required;
  • Experience with data management assessment or institutional research in a higher education setting required;
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g. Excel SPSS Qualtrics Tableau or similar tools) required;
  • CHES or MCHES certification preferred;
  • Experience with student learning outcomes assessment and strategic planning preferred;
  • Familiarity with national student health and engagement surveys (e.g. NCHA) preferred;
  • Understanding of student development theory and social determinants of health in a collegiate setting preferred.

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • CITI Training for Social and Behavioral Research preferred;
  • CITI Training for Biomedical Research preferred.
