Redwire Space Solutions LLC a business of Redwire Space has an opportunity for aMechanical Engineering Manager at our facility in Longmont CO. In this role you will be a key leader in the engineering team reporting to the Director of Engineering and leading a group of Mechanical Engineers as direct reports. This person will be responsible for recruiting & retaining top engineering talent using a system level approach to guide the team own departments tools and processes and act as an individual contributor on RF system development.
Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and functional leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering team vision technical excellence and leadership.
  • Assess ongoing and forecasted program demand headcount and skillsets.
  • Provide personnel mentorship for career growth and skillset development.
  • Act as the mechanical design lead in development qualification and delivery of high-performance RF systems for space and multi domain environments and developing technical work plans.
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary team members to optimize component and system designs that meet all technical cost and schedule requirements.
  • Provide technical support during flight build test and delivery.
  • Drive internal process improvements and develop department best practices.
  • Develop manage and maintain a full system design and its associated documentation - CAD Drawings ICDs BOMs etc.
  • Recruiting and retaining top Engineering talent.
  • Lead performance reviews / performance management.
  • Ability to travel - an average of 5% travel may be required.
Ideal Experience
  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or other aerospace-related discipline with 10 years of industry/related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experiencemanaging and directing an engineering team.
  • Experience as a mechanical design lead in development qualification and delivery of high-performancespace flight hardware for on-orbit environments and developing technical work plans.
  • Experience withpreparing supporting and leading project stage-gate meetings(such as PDR CDR etc.) and interfacing with customers.
  • Strong experience withdesigning space hardware best practices (materials coatings COTS GD&T NASA standards etc.) and lessons learned.
  • Experience designing antennas RF systems or electronic enclosures.
  • Expert knowledge of SolidWorks; experience using SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experienceleading and mentoring junior/senior engineers.
  • Expert drafting knowledge with understanding ofGD&T per ASME Y14.5along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
  • Experience conducting stress/modal/thermal analysis.
  • Experienceworking within an AS9100 or similar accredited environment.
  • Must be US Citizen
Desired Skills
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation Thermal Desktop NASTRAN or ANSYS is a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace guidelines such as GSFC-STD-7000A (GEVS) AIAA SNASA-STD-5017 MMPDS etc.
  • Experience and training insafe handling protocols for flight hardware including cleanroom and ESD standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint and Team. Microsoft Project experience a plus.
  • Ability to thrive and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range
$145000 - $180000/ year

Redwiredetermines pay for positions using local national and industry-specific survey data for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicants level of experience education and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally we consider the external market rate the amount we have budgeted internally and internal equity within the company for the same position.An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
