Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated operations-focused engineer to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence in a 24/7 environment. The candidate will act as the Incident Commander for high-impact service/application incidents drive automation to reduce manual tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the resilience and reliability of our infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Incident Management:
Act as the Incident Commander for major service and application-related incidents.
Serve as the primary point of contact for communications during incidents ensuring accurate and timely updates.
Coordinate with engineers and other teams to ensure swift incident resolution handling communications on their behalf.
Assess timelines to resolution and escalate as necessary.
Communicate incident status and post-incident updates effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
Operational Excellence:
Operate in a 24/7 environment participating in on-call rotations as required.
Multitask during complex incidents managing communications and coordinating troubleshooting efforts across teams.
Automation & Tooling:
Identify repetitive operational tasks and build automation to eliminate manual intervention.
Develop maintain and improve infrastructure health dashboards and monitoring tools.
Reliability & Resiliency:
Partner with teams across the organization to design and implement High Availability (HA) and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BCDR) strategies.
Ensure reliability targets are met through proactive measures monitoring and testing.
Required Qualifications
Proven operational experience in a 24/7 production environment.
Demonstrated expertise in incident management including leading incident response calls.
Strong communication and coordination skills especially under high-pressure situations.
Hands-on experience building automation using scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash PowerShell) or configuration management tools.
Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and dashboarding tools (e.g. Datadog Grafana Prometheus ELK).
Understanding of HA/BCDR principles and their implementation.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP).
Familiarity with containerization/orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) DevOps or Systems Engineering.
Experience conducting post-incident reviews (PIRs) and driving long-term improvements.
