Leading the Benefits Payments Projects and Controls team this role is part of the wider Finance Branch within the Finance and Corporate Services Division. This position offers the opportunity to lead across three functions: benefit payments; finance projects and controls; and developing an operational this role you will be leading teams and playing a key role in the strategic management of teams across the branch. You will also contribute to the safeguarding of vital resources for the people of Scotland who need them.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and strategic management of the Benefit Payments Projects and Controls branch including representation on unit and divisional Senior Management Teams.
  • Line management of 4 direct reports and oversight of delivery and wellbeing across the branch.
  • Establish and maintain an effective relevant and diverse internal and external senior network to promote and support branch priorities including helping to remove barriers to progress.
  • Provide expert advice and challenge on Internal Controls to senior leadership and representation on senior governance boards/committees.
  • Lead a programme of work to raise awareness and understanding of internal control concepts at strategic tactical and operational levels.
  • Provide framework for Internal Control consultancy to support Divisions to raise standards and practice related to internal controls.
  • Chair the Internal Controls Steering Group.
  • Oversight of the development of the new Payment and Accounting payment platform ensuring our requirements are met.
  • Contribute to the work on the future operating model to ensure a smooth transition and that our future requirements are understood.

1. Experience of producing and implementing a strategic or enterprise level internal control framework.

Working pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location which will be either Glasgow or you have specific questions about the role you are applying for please contact us.
