Description

Erie Neighborhood House is a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society. Our Little Village READS program a volunteer driven after-school literacy intervention program for 1st-3rd graders in need of additional reading support is seeking a part time READS Program Assistant for its Little Village Site (4225 W. 25th St); this is a 16 hour a week position in person Monday through Thursday 1:30pm-5:30pm. Reporting to the Literacy Programs Manager the READS program assistants basic function is to help manage the day to day programing requirements of the READS program.

Position Responsibilities

  • Be onsite during program time to work with students and volunteers facilitate daily activities and encourage student participation.
  • Help with room and supply set up and clean up.
  • Promote an inclusive and safe class community where students experiences and assets are resources for learning.
  • Participate in regular Erie Neighborhood House staff meetings curriculum meetings and events.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with READS interns and other site programs and staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of learners collaborate with the Erie team and volunteer tutors and perform program administrative duties.
  • Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of learners.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
