ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the worlds largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP and its partners believe that no child should go to bed hungry and that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children women and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy dignified lives. Each year WFP assists 86.7 million people in 83 countries. Every day some 5600 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road 92 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. These numbers speak to WFPs unparalleled reputation as an emergency responder one that is often the first on the scene in the most difficult environments. WFP also works with partners to strengthen the resilience of communities most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition through long-term development programmes aimed at boosting food security local economies education employment and gender equality. While hunger and malnutrition are the worlds largest solvable issues the needs are still immense and growing. 821 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger.
To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster WFP is investing in and growing private sector fundraising and partnerships to reach more people. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to co-develop and implement the new global foundation engagement strategy of WFP as part of our new private partnerships and fundraising strategy.
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for engaging the private sector (corporations individuals foundations) through high-impact partnerships in support of WFPs strategic priorities and through individual giving to build and retain support from the general public worldwide.
PSP strives to mobilize funding technical assistance innovative solutions and visibility and awareness to help WFP fulfil its mission and operations. From WFPs headquarters in Rome PSP also provides guidance to WFP Regional Bureaux (RB) Country Offices (COs) and HQ Functional Units on partnership development best practices compliance and rules and regulations for engaging with the private sector.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
WFPs private sector strategy () is working dramatically increase income from individuals to help reach more people and get to Zero Hunger faster using digital engagement tools to reach audiences across the globe in a flexible and cost-effective way.
Traditional individual fundraising in our sector was primarily conducted through offline channels and implemented through national fundraising operations. The individual fundraising market now looks very different with most potential donors having a digital presence and comfort with transacting online. WFP has a unique opportunity to define its approach amid this digital change and leapfrog peers through the creation of a digital-led fundraising strategy that engages people worldwide.
We have developed a new individual giving programme that delivers a best-in-class donor experience. Our model operates with the guiding principles of choice control transparency accountability and ease-of-use for our donors. We want our supporters to value and share their engagement with WFP.
The Senior Video Editor will plan project manage direct and produce film products for WFP to brief and deliver final edited film products along with supporting clean versions and project files (as specified in each brief). The products will support communications and private sector fundraising strategies at WFP as well as helping to define a clear visual style to support our growth in brand awareness.
Our audiences will be from multiple countries around the world so although communications will be generated and produced in multiple language they will need to resonate in multiple countries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Final products will be defined through the year as per PSP Individual Giving teams plan but will likely include the following products:
Storyboard script develop and edit a variety of video products to brief and tight schedule to engage specific supporter and donor audiences with the work of WFP. Products could include social media edits (15 30 60) edits of DRTV adsor digital advertising edits e.g. for Facebook ads donor engagement videos b-roll packages animated shorts.
Quickly and efficiently create edit and deliver emergency video products using photo footage and key messages to ensure timely fundraising.
Independently develop scripts and narratives for all video content using statistics/ key messages supplied with briefs.
Ensure consistent use of title graphics and colour palette across all video products.
If requested film staff beneficiaries or other people for video products and / or direct creative studio staff or other freelancers to film relevant contributors for film products.
Work within the agreed content ingestion protocols and post-production workflows of the WFP DAM system and independently upload all video products to the system as required.
Support with other film animation /FX projects as requested and briefed through the year.
Availability for out of hours on-call work including at weekends in the case of a humanitarian or other emergency appeal.
Willingness to be adaptable and roll your sleeves up to get the work done across a small team with big ambitions. Occasional travel to Rome may be required.


Work as the conduit between IG & COM in relation to all video-based product
Keep abreast of all new raw content streams and make suggestions to the IG team in relation to new final video products and/or concepts
Ensure all IG video products adhere to the latest video brand and image guidance that is applicable agency wide
Ensure all content featured has beneficiary consent
Comment on produce and as needed lead on the production of content briefing documents for external agencies and country-based content gathering teams. Ensuring the needs of IG are clearly stated and communicated to those gathering
Travel to the field as required to lead and gather new content


Multi -channel & language
As required produce video products in non-english language variants and follow team wide proof-reading protocol for approval
As required produce video enabled for use across multiple channel execution (Facebook email SMS)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education

Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline e.g. English Design AdvertisingCommunications or Marketing required
Work history
At least twelve years of relevant professional experience with filming video editing and post-production of fundraising and brand products including work with international humanitarian or development organisations.
Technical skills
Extensive experience of creating powerful and effective video content for marketing/fundraising/ brand campaigns for an international NGO/UN agency.
Experience of working in the commercial sector.
Extensive experience editing and producing video products using Premier Pro/ Avid and other editing software.
Proven track record of working to create fundraising and/ or awareness videos in a humanitarian and/ or development contest.
Demonstrable experience of managing advanced FX and other animation projects for creation of film products.
Ability to explain and translate to film complicated concepts across a range of cultures and geographies to diverse audiences.
Ability to work with WFP teams and other freelances to deliver on brief.
Work experience within the United Nations system or a similar international organization in humanitarian/development sector is a significant advantage

Excellent command of spoken and written English
Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus
