Position Summary
Department:School of Arts and Sciences
Reports To:Department Chair
Status/Time Commitment:Ongoing (as needed)
Start Date:Fall 2025
This course is a guided study of music from the Middle Ages to approximately 1700 with a focus on social and cultural history and the written transmission of music. The course covers composers and characteristics of music from multiple national locations between the Middle Ages and the 17th century and addresses how the history of writing and print affected the history of music. Beyond a textbook knowledge of music history the course will also offer insights into current performance trends in early music.Essential Functions
- Teach courses as described and assigned
- Discuss class progress with the program coordinator including teaching performance through observation
- Collaborate with other faculty as needed

Qualifications
Required:
- Masters degreeor higher in Music or a related field
- Teaching experience in Music at the primary secondary and/or college levels
- Strong commitment to teaching
- Experience in or aptitude for undergraduate-level teaching
- Ability to work with students staff and faculty in a collegial environment
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the Universitys mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.
- Terminaldegree in Music or related field
- Evidence of professional-level performance
- College-level teaching experience
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body as well as promote diversity
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise dust fumes vibrations and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel personal hygiene and grooming.
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc. operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

Compensation is based on highest completed degree level:
Masters degree: Anticipated pay per unit $811.51 $23.97 per hour
Terminal degree: Anticipated pay per unit $977.98 $28.82 per hour
