Department: Technology
Reports To: Software Engineering Manager
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Job Type: Full-Time/100% Remote
Schedule: MondayFriday
This is a fully remote position with core collaboration hours aligned to US Central Time. A developer local to the Houston area would be fantastic but it is not required.
Team & Tech Stack
The team is currently composed of 2 developers a product manager / developer and a data analyst.
We have a wide variety of custom built software with the majority of the codebase in C# Web Forms with an MS SQL backend. Weve recently added the Blazor framework to our tech stack and its been a nice improvement over the older web forms that use the AJAX control toolkit and a smattering of javascript.
Our primary need is to increase our software engineering capacity to drive greater velocity. We would also benefit from more modern front-end development and could use someone with experience in MS SQL database administration and optimization.
Were eager to modernize our tech stack with various potential frameworks and toolsets: EF Core more Blazor apps Angular React Vue etc. A new teammate with relevant experience could help lead that transition - or simply give us the space to learn and grow together.
We have started and intend to continue to invest heavily in AI - using LLMs for assistance in brainstorming and learning new things incorporating external and internal vertical AI products and using AI for coding assistance.
Role & Responsibilities
You will build and improve software at the company talking to users to understand their workflows and problems and then working with your colleagues on the software development team to design and implement solutions.
The day-to-day work of the job is a mix of support and development. Troubleshooting and figuring things out are important aspects of the job.
There are many opportunities here to make an impact as a software developer. You will write bespoke software thats critical for our daily operations and serves as a force multiplier for workers throughout the company and be able to introduce new technologies that drive change and expand our capabilities in new ways.
We create in-house tools and get direct feedback from users - building things and then getting to see them put to use is a very satisfying loop. You will thrive here if you enjoy autonomy fast feedback cycles and seeing your work used by hundreds of people every day.
