About the roles

AEMO is recruiting for multiple power system engineering roles with diverse skills and experience across power system operations. AEMO is particularly recruiting for applicants with a strong desire to learn and help AEMO to enable the energy transition while operating the power system of today in eal time Power Gas and Electricity system operations.

We are recruiting for Engineer Senior Principal and Specialist roles across multiple work locations.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities will potentially span across the following areas:

  • Operational planning and support.
  • Power system engineering analysis and modelling.
  • Operations Technology.

What you will bring to the role

You will have a combination of some of the skills sets below:

  • Energy Power system operations including dispatch outage coordination and system adequacy assessment.
  • Power system modelling and analysis e.g. load flow and dynamics in PSS/E PSCAD or PowerFactory.
  • Detailed understanding of power system plant including synchronous and inverter based generation primary and secondary transmission systems including protection and control systems as well as distributed energy resources.
  • Understanding of modelling of primary equipment and power system dynamics.
  • Capability to undertake power system studies associated with planning and operation of the power system including assessment of inverter-based renewable performance and post power system incident investigations
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts: Centralised data management / mappings / data virtualisation.
  • Data science / analytics software design coding and integration (Python JavaScript C# C R SQL containerisation automated testing).
  • SCADA/EMS experience.
