Underwriter
Location: Buffalo NY
Job Type: Full-Time
Our client a well-established insurance provider is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join their team. This is a full-time position based in Buffalo NY. The ideal candidate will play a key role in evaluating insurance applications assessing risk and ensuring sound underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines.

Our client a well-established insurance provider is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join their team. This is a full-time position based in Buffalo NY. The ideal candidate will play a key role in evaluating insurance applications assessing risk and ensuring sound underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate applications for insurance coverage assessing risk eligibility based on company underwriting guidelines.
- Analyze risk factors including experience loss potential and exposure to catastrophes.
- Collaborate with agents and brokers via phone email and in-person meetings to provide quotes answer inquiries and assist with policy applications.
- Utilize automated systems to process new and renewal policies endorsements and cancellations.
- Conduct underwriting assessments for policy renewals and review supporting documentation as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with agency partners through effective communication and marketing visits.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations company policies and underwriting best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Active Producers License required.
- 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting or related field.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles risk assessment and policy coverage forms.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and make informed underwriting decisions.
- Experience working with agency partners and maintaining strong business relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting software.
- Professional insurance designations (e.g. CPCU) are a plus.
