Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished AI Architect to join our Digital team and lead the strategy design and delivery of advanced AI-driven solutions.

This senior role is a unique opportunity for a passionate technologist to apply artificial intelligence particularly large language models (LLMs) and machine learning (ML) to solve complex challenges in the built environment. From infrastructure systems to building design your work will drive innovation in automation and optimisation across multidisciplinary engineering domains.

As a core member of our team you will help shape the integration of AI into engineering workflows collaborating across disciplines to deliver solutions that are scalable reliable and intuitive. Responsibilities:

  • Design robust scalable AI/ML architectures including model pipelines data ingestion and deployment frameworks tailored to infrastructure projects.
  • Define and drive the AI roadmap for infrastructure planning and design applications aligning with AECOM digital delivery goals and client needs.
  • Guide the development and fine-tuning of AI models to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and core engineering principles.
  • Develop robust scripts and scalable model training pipelines using Python.
  • Lead the integration of AI tools with existing engineering tools (e.g. ArcGIS AutoCAD Civil 3D Revit Rhino FME) ensuring seamless interoperability and user adoption.
  • Mentor AI engineers and collaborate with civil engineers utility specialists and GIS/BIM specialists to bridge domain knowledge with AI capabilities.
  • Establish best practices for model validation versioning explainability and compliance with relevant engineering and data standards.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging AI technologies (e.g. LLMs generative design reinforcement learning) applicable to geospatial and infrastructure challenges.

Qualifications :

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Masters or PhD in Computer Science Data Science Artificial Intelligence or a related engineering discipline. Candidates with advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) are preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in AI/ML development with at least 3 years in an AI/ML architectural or leadership role.
  • Proven experience in applying AI to solve real-world problems preferably in domains such as spatial/geometric analysis geospatial data or engineering applications.
  • Proficiency in Python and ML/DL frameworks (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow scikit-learn).
  • Strong understanding of data architecture MLOps pipelines cloud computing (Azure/GCP/AWS) and model governance practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
