How Youll Make an Impact Dudek is seeking as needed Watercraft Inspection Field Technician Lead to conduct watercraft inspections reporting on-site surveys customer service outreach and education and interaction with the public and partners of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California State Parks. Work will be conducted in the field at DWR locations at Lake Oroville in Butte County CA.Field Leads will conduct outreach and education for each watercraft owner/operator and will physically and visually inspect all watercraft for aquatic invasive species and assess risk in accordance with control guidance and according to established protocol. The Field Leads are responsible for the daily oversight and coordination of inspection station teams. This role ensures that all safety protocols are followed and that employee timekeeping attendance and meal/rest break compliance are maintained. Acting as the primary onsite point of contact the Field Lead promptly addresses logistical issues and incidents to maintain smooth and efficient field operations.Training will be provided by Dudek. The number of hours depends on project needs; 40 hours per week is not guaranteed. This project is slated to end December 31 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
Aquatic Invasive Species outreach and education of watercraft owners/operators
Provide onsite oversight of the inspection station teams to ensure efficient and compliant operations
Ensure adherence to all in-field safety protocols and procedures
Oversight for training new staff in inspection and field orientation
Responsible for answering/resolving technical questions from other staff working at the station
Responsible for responding to public questions and concerns that arise at the station
Responsible for elevating concerns/issues to project management when necessary
Responsible for communicating important day-to-day information with other Field Leads and project management
Responsible for monitoring break schedules and periods
Responsible for monitoring station equipment and materials needs and inventoryseals wires fuel water tools etc.
Perform watercraft inspections according to protocol.
Documentation data entry reporting.
Clear communication with the public staff partners and professional demeanor.
All work will be conducted under the guidance of Dudek senior staff and complete background information and instructions will be provided for each project and site.
Equipment needed for data collection will be provided by Dudek.
Other duties as assigned.
May require driving at night

Minimum Qualifications
High school degree some college or university experience preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in supervisory or shift team experience preferably in field-based or technical environments
Must possess a valid drivers license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment
The ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed.

Compensation:$23.50/hourly* (As-Needed/Variable Hour) *Project-Based Position Notice: This position is being hired specifically to support a defined project and is anticipated to continue through December 31 2026 based on current project timelines and funding. Employment with Dudek remains at-will and this anticipated end date does not constitute a guarantee of employment for any period of time. *Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individuals related experience education certifications skills and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.
