JOB SUMMARY

In a fast-paced and dynamic urgent care environment the Paramedic provides critical support to Medical Providers Radiologic Technologists and patients. This role involves a wide range of tasks including patient care management front desk registration vital sign collection social and medical history collection point of care testing medication administration and assisting providers with office procedures. The Paramedic must be adept at making quick decisions and managing a high volume of patients efficiently. Responsibilities also include handling acute conditions performing rapid assessments and managing urgent care-specific equipment. This role requires completing all activities accurately with high quality and in a timely manner while embodying our vision and mission to become the urgent care partner of choice. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Associates Degree preferred.

Passed the Paramedic licensure examination

Work Experience:

- 2 years of experience as a Paramedic in a fast-paced environment such as urgent care emergency room or similar settings. This experience should include handling a high volume of patients and making quick decisions under pressure.

- 3 years of Paramedic experience preferred with a strong emphasis on urgent care or emergency care settings.

-Experience in pediatric care is preferred as it demonstrates the ability to handle a wide range of patient ages and conditions.

- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems commonly used in urgent care settings is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated ability to perform rapid assessments triage and manage acute conditions efficiently.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

The following certifications are required upon hire:

State Paramedic Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

-Demonstrated competency in Electrocardiogram (EKG) testing and Venipuncture procedures.

- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures.

- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

- Social perceptiveness and service-oriented.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong organizational and planning skills.

- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.

- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.

Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Preferred:

- Point of Care Testing.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Understanding of HIPAA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. Following are the essential functions of the job.

-Conduct rapid assessments and triage of patients to determine the urgency of their condition and prioritize care accordingly.

- Perform telephone video and in-person screening including intake and gathering of detailed patient information.

- Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure heart rate respiratory rate and temperature with a focus on identifying acute changes.

- Obtain and record comprehensive patient history including medical social and family history with an emphasis on urgent care needs.

- Assist patients in ambulation and transfers ensuring patient safety and comfort.

- Screen and follow-up on diagnostic tests as directed by a healthcare provider with a focus on urgent care-specific tests.

- Relay test results to patients and providers ensuring clear communication and understanding.

- Create and maintain a welcoming environment for patients by providing exceptional customer service especially in high-stress situations.

- Verify insurance information collect and process co-payments and deductibles efficiently.

- Schedule patient appointments for the urgent care center and coordinate provider referrals to specialists as needed.

- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; ensure compliance with diagnostic and procedure coding and maintain patient information confidentiality.

- Conduct interviews to verify patient information record medical history and confirm the purpose of the visit with a focus on urgent care needs.

- Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests obtaining vital signs and reporting patient history summaries.

- Assist providers with patient evaluations and in-office procedures including urgent care-specific interventions.

- Notify providers of abnormal patient findings promptly to ensure timely intervention.

- Perform in-office point of care testing for various medical conditions including phlebotomy dressing wounds/injuries and EKGs.

- Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns maintain supplies perform preventive maintenance and call for repairs as needed.

- Perform BLS emergency care procedures and manage environmental emergencies with a focus on urgent care scenarios.

- Administer medications per protocols approved by the local Medical Director with an emphasis on urgent care treatments.

- Prepare set-up for various clinical procedures including suturing incision and drainage foreign body removal and other urgent care-specific procedures.

- Conduct intravenous catheter insertion IV fluid administration splinting venipuncture and other related clinical procedures as needed.

- Perform courtesy call backs to follow up on patients ensuring continuity of care and patient satisfaction.

- All other duties as assigned with a focus on adapting to the dynamic needs of an urgent care environment.
