Band/Percussion/Orchestra Paraprofessional

Middle School & Upper School

Job Description

Fort Worth Country Day is seeking enthusiastic professionals who preferably have experience in both independent school and middle or upper school education. Reporting to the Director of Fine Arts the Band/Percussion/Orchestra Paraprofessional will have experience teaching band/percussion and/or orchestra to middle and upper school-age students. We hope to hire individuals within each area of expertise: band/percussion and orchestra respectively.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach band orchestra and percussion as needed to students in respective classes for grades 5-12
  • Direct and prepare the band and orchestra for performances including Admission events school-wide events such as Veterans Day the Halloween Parade winter and spring concerts pep rallies optional football games etc.
  • Assist directors with administrative duties including inventory repair and maintenance of instruments and facilities as needed
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills
  • Be a team player who works well with others in the division and works collaboratively with the other members of the performing arts department
  • Able to demonstrate a wide range of presentation techniques in order to adapt activities for different learning styles and abilities
  • Demonstrate commitment to student success by offering extra help hours
  • Perform other duties as needed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have an obvious passion for the subject-matter and for teaching
  • Be energized by working with secondary school-age students
  • Have excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Represent the School in a favorable manner

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in music
  • Experience with secondary school-age students and as a student advisor/mentor
