Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Masters degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university;
2. Valid Texas administrators/principal certification;
3. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a math classroom teacher;
4. Preference given to applicants with experience in secondary math;
5. Demonstrated:
Commitment to life-long learning that supports high-quality first-time instruction including the use of technology;
Ability to develop and write curriculum;
Ability to lead professional learning;
Ability to manage data;
6. Demonstrated skills in leading motivating and cooperating with other teachers campus administrators and district personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 220 days

SALARY:

$76684/IA-4

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinate the development review and update of middle school math programs and related curriculum documents and materials including curriculum guides course outlines scopes and sequences and grading plans.
  2. Work cooperatively with campus principals and curriculum and instruction department members in developing and supervising the middle school math instructional programs.
  3. Work with teacher committees to determine priority objectives in math.
  4. Work with appropriate instructional personnel to establish district standards for acceptable levels of student achievement in middle school math.
  5. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for middle school math.
  6. Provide training for teachers in areas related to improving student learning.
  7. Plan and provide staff development for teachers administrators and staff in middle school math.
  8. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  9. Participate in the purchase use care and replacement of materials.
  10. Assist with the adoption of textbooks in middle school math courses.
  11. Review recommend and incorporate technology tools to support math instruction.
  12. Coordinate the development of materials and support the facilitation of summer school math courses and camps and middle school acceleration courses.
  13. Participate actively in professional math leader/teacher associations and encourage participation of other math teachers.
  14. Supervise middle school math coaches and instructional specialists.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Director of MS Curriculum and Instruction.
  16. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
