Job Description

FLSA:Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Louisiana teachers certificate

2. Supervisory Certification as set forth in Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel (Bulletin 746)
3. Certification in Special Education
4. Five years of successful teaching with experience in Special Education

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

JOB GOAL: To assist in developing achieving and maintaining appropriate Special

Education programs and services

TERM: 12 months

SALARY: Supervisor/Coordinator Salary Schedule

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. To act as a liaison in carrying out the policies of the Rapides Parish School Board
II. To assist in the organization and maintenance of Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and Autism programs
III. To monitor ECSE and Autism programs and recommend corrective action to the
IV. To assist in observations of teaching personnel and make reports as outlined in the Rapides Parish Accountability Program
V. To serve as liaison between the Director of Special Education teachers and principals
VI. To serve as a resource person for the department with high visibility in the schools
VII. To model lessons and the use of appropriate research based strategies for classroom teachers
VIII. To establish maintain and submit Special Education records and reports as assigned

IX. To direct in-service training activities
X. To assist in selection and purchase of materials and equipment
XI. To assist in the location evaluation and placement of Special Education students
XII. To direct tracking of performance growth and development of Special Education students
XIII. To direct annual evaluation of Special Education progress
XIV. To establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan
XV. To work effectively with school personnel and staff
XVI. To consistently demonstrate self-direction
XVII. To submit accurate records and reports promptly
XVIII. To foster open communication and positive relationships with school personnel staff and the community
XIX. To follow state and School Board policies
XX. To perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education
XXI. To perform any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent
