This position was created to focus on three important areas of the business. First its widely recognized that Pfizer is headed for a revenue cliff between 2027-2030 stemming from a bolus of blockbusters losing patent exclusivity in the US and International markets none more so than ELIQUIS which faces expiry or earlier-than-expected generic entry in the 2025-2028 time frame. Therefore in addition to redoubling our efforts to grow evolve and maintain the remaining in-line assets its crucial that we prioritize sourcing the worlds best science from both within the pipeline and outside.

As the Internal Medicine (IM) Commercial Business Development (BD) Lead the Senior Director will represent the Marketing perspective (reflecting inputs and insights from US and ICO/EMCO counterparts) on the evaluation prioritization and transactions of intensely-vetted external assets to enrich the IM portfolio with more substrate. The different types of transactions include M&A in-/out-licensing and co-commercialization/promotion. The intent is to supplement the existing pipeline with BD deals to secure a late-stage asset or portfolio in concordance with the IM category strategy which lays out areas of focus ranging from (but not limited to) obesity/chronic weight management atherosclerosis CVD renal/CKD and Heart Failure. This does not however preclude assessment of adjacent conditions opportunistically. Typically at any one time we may be engaging 1 prospective partners to hedge the risk associated with one company not advancing Pfizer in their process or Pfizer balking at moving forward.

In the event that one of the BD opportunities comes to fruition and delivers later-stage substrate which is approaching or has already passed the Decision Point 3 (DP-3) gate the Senior Director will be anointed as the Global Marketing Lead for that asset(s). We envision the colleague being solely dedicated to this out-sourced brand.

Secondly currently there are more than 1 billion people who suffer from migraines worldwide making this one of the largest population health challenges of our migraine portfolio consists of 2 assets: NURTEC / VYDURA (Rimegepant) and ZAVZPRET (Zavegepant).

NURTEC ODT /VYDURA (Rimegepant) is the first and only oral CGRP receptor antagonist for the acute and preventive treatment of migraine and is approved in over 50 markets with large approvals pending in key markets such as Japan India Brazil and Russia in 2025 and beyond. Rimegepant has the opportunity to change the paradigm in migraine treatment and potentially establish a new standard of care.

As the Global Marketing Migraine Launch Lead the Senior Director will pllay a critical role to ensure timely and seamless launch readiness for primary and new addition this role will be responsible for accelerating global performance in key countries (US & KNOTs) through strong collaboration with ICO/EMCO partners.

Third the remit also includes infusing US insights into the Global launch and LCM planning for ibuzatrelvir (our mid-to-late stage home-grown anti-viral follow-up to PAXLOVID) to ensure the output/content have utility for the largest market.

This role will report directly to the Global Franchise Lead for IM Migraine and AV.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Primary & New indication launch readiness across migraine:
  • Lead and hold the launch team responsible for ensuring launch readiness milestones & execution excellence lead risk identification & migration strategies; including proactively identifying launch acceleration plans with key XFTs
  • Partner with Regulatory and PGS to ensure dossier submissions and product supply availability to support the launch in local markets
  • Enable markets to deliver strong launch plans to drive product adoption through launch workshops/playbook to drive market understanding key insights & strategies in 2025 keen focus on Japan Brazil India Russia and Korea.
  • Lead launch planning in Menstrual Migraine (new indication) in 2027 as well as potentially 1-3 new indications under assessment today
  • Drive Global performance acceleration in partnership with ICO/EMCO:
    • Engage with and support performance acceleration with key knots
    • Assessment of launch plans with ICO/EMCO
    • Identification & tracking of KPIs to support LRF/launch trajectory
    • Market archetyping globally deliver archetype playbook to optimize opportunities across all launched markets (in addition to KNOTs) to support global LRF
  • Accountable for being the insight engine/feedback loop from markets back to Global marketing team to support optimized strategy messaging and core content package
  • Co-lead migraine community engagement with all countries in collaboration with ICO
  • Sit on the core global IM BD team to provide the joint Global/ICO/US commercial point-of view on companies portfolios or individual external assets under in close partnership with CSI US & International commercial Medical and GAV
  • Perform due diligence to ensure alignment with IM category strategy either directly or adjacently
  • Evaluate other inbound IM assets opportunistically
  • Co-sponsor primary qualitative & quantitative market research to assess the payer/access landscape and expected response to assess the magnitude of unmet need and commercial potential
  • Refine the target product profile (TPP) to ensure meaningful differentiation vs the existing standard of care
  • Forecast OpEx required by line-item (eg FF DTC omnichannel market shaping advocacy policy) to design the optimal go-to-market model and to deliver or exceed deal model targets
  • Provide input into peak-year revenue and across the long-range forecast (LRF) to inform overall valuation by Market Assessment and Corporate Development that yields the NPV and iRR expectations
  • If a deal materializes transition to Global Marketing Asset Lead post DP3. As steward of the brand lay out and nimbly navigate the pathway to commercialization across markets in lock step with IM CSI Global Medical GAV and US/ICO/EMCO commercial partners. Appropriately provide input into the clinical development plan and evidence generation plan to optimize pivotal study design labeling promotional claims access & reimbursement clinical practice patient outcomes and LCM priorities
  • Support the building of the ibuzatrelvir commercialization plan and pressure-test to ensure it addresses US needs and reflects the core commercial levers and go-to-market models.
  • Mentor/manage at least one secondee MRP Manager or breakthrough fellow initially with the commitment to ramp up resourcing as required by the intensity and volume of BD opportunities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BS required
  • 12 years relevant pharma experience
  • Prior experience with a US and/or global product launch required
  • Deep understanding of the US market and extensive experience in navigating the complex and fragmented ecosystem. Facile across the full range of the marketing mix efficiently using core and emerging promotional levers
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of global and local marketing principles
  • Exceptional product management as well as project and cross-functional team management skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity and complex white space environments
  • Be an active contributor to create and operate in an environment that continuously embraces and encourages the implementation of innovative ideas and fosters a culture of collaboration and teamwork

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204700.00 to $341100.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
