Job Description
This position was created to focus on three important areas of the business. First its widely recognized that Pfizer is headed for a revenue cliff between 2027-2030 stemming from a bolus of blockbusters losing patent exclusivity in the US and International markets none more so than ELIQUIS which faces expiry or earlier-than-expected generic entry in the 2025-2028 time frame. Therefore in addition to redoubling our efforts to grow evolve and maintain the remaining in-line assets its crucial that we prioritize sourcing the worlds best science from both within the pipeline and outside.
As the Internal Medicine (IM) Commercial Business Development (BD) Lead the Senior Director will represent the Marketing perspective (reflecting inputs and insights from US and ICO/EMCO counterparts) on the evaluation prioritization and transactions of intensely-vetted external assets to enrich the IM portfolio with more substrate. The different types of transactions include M&A in-/out-licensing and co-commercialization/promotion. The intent is to supplement the existing pipeline with BD deals to secure a late-stage asset or portfolio in concordance with the IM category strategy which lays out areas of focus ranging from (but not limited to) obesity/chronic weight management atherosclerosis CVD renal/CKD and Heart Failure. This does not however preclude assessment of adjacent conditions opportunistically. Typically at any one time we may be engaging 1 prospective partners to hedge the risk associated with one company not advancing Pfizer in their process or Pfizer balking at moving forward.
In the event that one of the BD opportunities comes to fruition and delivers later-stage substrate which is approaching or has already passed the Decision Point 3 (DP-3) gate the Senior Director will be anointed as the Global Marketing Lead for that asset(s). We envision the colleague being solely dedicated to this out-sourced brand.
Secondly currently there are more than 1 billion people who suffer from migraines worldwide making this one of the largest population health challenges of our migraine portfolio consists of 2 assets: NURTEC / VYDURA (Rimegepant) and ZAVZPRET (Zavegepant).
NURTEC ODT /VYDURA (Rimegepant) is the first and only oral CGRP receptor antagonist for the acute and preventive treatment of migraine and is approved in over 50 markets with large approvals pending in key markets such as Japan India Brazil and Russia in 2025 and beyond. Rimegepant has the opportunity to change the paradigm in migraine treatment and potentially establish a new standard of care.
As the Global Marketing Migraine Launch Lead the Senior Director will pllay a critical role to ensure timely and seamless launch readiness for primary and new addition this role will be responsible for accelerating global performance in key countries (US & KNOTs) through strong collaboration with ICO/EMCO partners.
Third the remit also includes infusing US insights into the Global launch and LCM planning for ibuzatrelvir (our mid-to-late stage home-grown anti-viral follow-up to PAXLOVID) to ensure the output/content have utility for the largest market.
This role will report directly to the Global Franchise Lead for IM Migraine and AV.
