Purpose of Position:
To provide the leadership necessary for the success of a Mini University early childhood program. To apply principles of management and early childhood education to administer the entire operation of this quality program focusing on the execution of a leaders Essential Work. To maintain NAEYC Accreditation and 5 stars in Step up to Quality.
Educational Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Educational Requirements: Prefer candidate with Masters coursework and B.A. or B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and Career Pathways Level 4.
- Experience: Prefer 5 years teaching and 3 years leadership experience.
- Leadership and People Skills: Emphasis is often placed on a variety of tasks and technical skills involved in an administrative role. Mini Universitys ESSENTIAL Work is defined under the following categories: Enrollment Systems State ECE NAEYC Team Inspire Accountability and Leadership. We also emphasize the amount of time Mini University Leaders spend using people skills such as listening communicating and motivating. This position requires strong people skills and a commitment to the understanding and development of multiple leadership skills and dimensions.
- Ability to supervise people and ongoing center operations; must be highly skilled in oral and written communication with internal and external customers and others outside of the organization.
- Excellent organization skills required.Must be able to establish and maintain standards of excellence to ensure a Mini University operated program is a model program in Ohio. Center Leaders are also responsible for maintaining compliance with all Child Care licensing and Step Up to Quality regulations from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Center Leaders are expected to guide and support the Teaching Staff in achieving a very high level of quality and excellence in early care and education. Center Leaders must be able to understand articulate and meet the standards criteria and guidelines outlined by ODJFS Step Up to Quality NAEYC Accreditation and Creative Curriculum.
The profession of Early Childhood Education is rapidly changing in Ohio and across the country. Center Leaders must make a commitment to staying abreast of these changes by reading the latest research on achieving positive child outcomes and being willing to teach and inspire others to serve the needs of young children and their families.
