Chevrons Compliance Law group is accepting applications for the position Counsel Cybersecurity and AI through 08/20/2025

This position is for Counsel Cybersecurity based in Houston Texas reporting to the Supervising Counsel Privacy and Cybersecurity. The Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Team houses Chevrons privacy cyber and AI attorneys. This Counsel position will advise on the full range of cyber AI and technology related legal matters and issues affecting Chevron globally. The ideal candidate will have facility in these areas of law while being open to handling other matters within Compliance Law as needed including data privacy and competition law.

Responsibilities for this position:

• Provide day-to-day legal advice to all operating units globally and members of the Chevron Enterprise AI team on all aspects of cyber and AI compliance legal requirements.
• Advise on foreign federal and state cybersecurity regulations and laws.
• Support implementation of cybersecurity controls within Chevron business units as required by regulation and interface with regulators as necessary to advocate for Chevrons position and seek alignment.
• Provide legal advice on issues related to information technology initiatives including data governance information retention data transfer and AI initiatives.
• Support incident response processes for cyber and data privacy incidents including handling legal aspects of compliance with foreign and domestic laws regarding data breaches.
• Develop and deliver relevant compliance training to company personnel.
• Advise on legal compliance in connection with internal investigations and forensics requests.
• Advise on responsible AI AI governance and AI regulations globally.
• Provide secondary support as needed on data privacy and competition law.

Required Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Texas
• Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. University.
• Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law
• Familiarity with cyber regulations and AI regulations
• Transactional experience in negotiating and drafting contracts
• Demonstrated experience advising clients in business corporate and transactional matters
• Proven client counseling skills in providing pragmatic day-to-day advice; informing clients of important legal developments and warning clients of potential legal risks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of laws rules and regulations in other legal compliance areas such as privacy and competition law; knowledgeable about effective compliance programs

Other Considerations:

• Willing to travel internationally if required

Relocation Option:

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
