OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Tasked with ensuring that the labs optical equipment is always operational the Optical Equipment Maintenance Specialist performs scheduled maintenance oversees the installation of new machinery and assists in maintaining the stock of essential parts needed in our service center.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform timely preventative maintenance on equipment to guarantee safety and optimal functionality. Suggest and introduce modifications for heightened efficiency. Test and safely repair and operate equipment.
- Diagnose and remedy issues with optical lab machinery and failures. Perform equipment and subassembly rebuilds as necessary. Install minor parts on machinery.
- Install new lab equipment while offering operator training on mechanical functionality and maintenance needs. Keep abreast of knowledge about new and existing equipment through training.
- Submit purchase orders for necessary tools parts and equipment to keep inventories at optimal levels.
- Contribute to general building maintenance.
- Use digital maintenance software to track and submit work orders while recording work and project completion.
- Relay information effectively with vendors supervisors and peers providing ongoing feedback solutions to issues and when necessary training.
- Engage in lab and infrastructure reengineering projects to perpetually enhance productivity meet goals and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations on specialized projects related to divisional aims.
- Maintain a tidy and well-organized work space.
- Adhere to company protocols and manufacturer guidelines ensuring compliance with safety standards and attendance rules. Promote a safe working environment report and resolve unsafe conditions and protect proprietary and confidential information.
- Collaborate with colleagues to sustain workload balance. Demonstrate professional conduct and deliver quality work promptly.
- Provide guidance and training for newer colleagues and participate in training sessions as required.
- Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma GED or equivalent plus specialized mechanical or related training;
- At least 5 years experience focused on mechanical or maintenance roles
- Proficiency in areas like pneumatics hydraulics electrical systems fabrication or mechatronics/automation
- Proven ability to meet deadlines with thorough results
- Experience using computers for managing parts inventory and processing work tickets
- Capability to lift and maneuver over 60 pounds and use engineering tools for heavier equipment (e.g. pallet jacks)
Pay Range: $17.00 - 35.81
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors including geography experience qualifications skills and local minimum wage requirements. Additionally a competitive bonus or commission plan may be offered enhancing an already first-rate total rewards package.
