Position Overview
As a Cost Control Specialist you will play a pivotal role within the Project Controls team supporting offshore construction projects focused on umbilical and pipeline installation. Your primary responsibility is to implement and maintain robust cost control systems that ensure financial discipline across complex EPCI scopes. You will work closely with Project Managers and Engineering teams to monitor budgets analyze cost trends and support strategic decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Tracking
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) aligned with project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Monitor actual expenditures against budgeted values and flag deviations early.
- Track commitments accruals and work-in-progress valuations for offshore activities.
- Financial Reporting & Forecasting
- Prepare timely and accurate cost reports with variance analysis and forecasting.
- Support planning for future project phases by developing cost projections and resource allocation models.
- Cost Analysis & Risk Management
- Investigate cost overruns and propose mitigation strategies.
- Provide cost-related input for risk assessments and perform probabilistic analysis
- Change Management
- Evaluate the financial impact of contract changes claims and scope adjustments.
- Collaborate with Contracts and Engineering teams to ensure cost alignment during change processes.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with cross-functional teams including Engineering Procurement and Construction to communicate cost performance and resolve financial issues.
- Present cost insights to project leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all cost control activities adhere to internal procedures and industry standards.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and reporting consistency across projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in cost control or project controls within offshore construction or EPCI environments.
- Strong understanding of WBS/CBS structures and cost control methodologies.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP or similar cost control systems.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
