Job Description
Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the campus plumbing systems and for providing technical assistance/guidance to other Plumber(s). Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Maintains university owned underground domestic water piping. Maintains university owned underground sanitary and storm sewer piping. Locates university owned underground utilities. Maintains above ground domestic water systems. Maintains above ground sanitary and storm sewer piping systems. Maintains university owned plumbing fixtures. Monitors and maintains acid neutralization tanks. Monitors and maintains hydration stations and drinking fountains. Assists with maintaining university water features. Maintains university storm water sump pumps. Maintains sanitary sewage lift pumps. Maintains domestic hot water heaters and associated runaround pumps and expansion tanks. Provides technical assistance/guidance to other Plumber(s). In the absence of the MEP Manager assists with distributing workload. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Physical Demands
Work requires ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; lifting (up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally); frequent bending pushing and pulling; occasional stooping; frequent carrying up to 50 pounds; and occasional lifting overhead up to 50 pounds. Work also requires the ability to see/read and to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions. This position may be required to work overtime nights weekends or holidays in order to fulfill essential service requirements such as during inclement weather or other events.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge/Skill/Ability Basic mathematics skills including adding subtracting dividing and multiplying. Proficiency with smart devices such as cell phones and tablets including the ability to respond to messages and emails and to use apps such as a work order system. Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment complete projects by deadlines and act with a sense of urgency. A collaborative team player who can coordinate work effectively with employees team members and outside vendors. Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills. Equivalent Education/Experience High school diploma or GED required. Valid drivers license required. Current State of Oklahoma plumbing journeyman license required. Previous experience in a facilities management multi-campus operation preferred. Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
