Work with a purpose!East Mississippi Correctional Facility located in Meridian MS. is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside.

Position Summary:

Reports to the deputy warden programs. Responsible for the provision of structured well-rounded recreation and avocation program in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions:

1. Supervise and provide instruction to inmates in recreational activities.

2. Counsels and motivates inmates regarding behavior training personal or work habits and problems. Oversee the coordination with counselors and others as necessary.

3. Prepare a variety of well-planned recreation activities including arts and crafts individual and team sports special interest programs and others.

4. Develop and distribute weekly monthly and annual recreational plans and schedules of activities.

5. Manage and control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs and recommend purchases.

6. Provide information regarding special and scheduled activities.

7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

8. Maintain accountability of staff inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience required. Valid drivers license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
