Payroll Supervisor Steyning
Salary competitive depending on experience
Hours - Monday to Friday 36.25 hours per week with flexible hybrid working
Holiday 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays)increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 28 days)
About the Payroll Supervisor role

We pride ourselves on delivering accurate compliant and client-focused payroll our Steyning office we are now seeking an ambitious and experienced Payroll Supervisor to lead our payroll team and support our growing client base.
As Payroll Supervisor you will be supporting the Payroll Team Manager and you will oversee the delivery of payroll services for multiple clients across various sectors. You will manage a small team ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and maintain high standards of accuracy and client additionyou will be involved in leading one-off projects including onboarding new clients acquisitions and specialist questions.
Key responsibilities of aPayroll Supervisorwill include:
- manage the end-to-end payroll process for a small portfolio of clients including weekly fortnightly and monthly payrolls
- review and approve payrolls prepared by junior staff ensuring accuracy and compliance
- act as the main point of contact for payroll queries from your portfolio providing expert advice and support
- support the team with technical training and complex payroll queries as and when they arise
- ensure timely submission of RTI returns pension contributions and year-end reporting (P60s P11Ds)
- keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensure the team is informed and compliant
- facilitate onboarding new clients and setting up payroll systems
- liaise with HMRC and pension providers as required
- support the Payroll Team Manager with various tasks including internal reporting process improvements onboarding of new projects / acquisitions
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- minimum 5 years experience in a payroll role ideally within an accountancy or bureau environment
- CIPP qualifications (or working towards) is desirable
- strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation including auto-enrolment statutory payments UK payrolls with overseas employers.
- ideally experienced using IRIS Payroll Professional or has the confidence and ability to learn new payroll software quickly
- excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- ability to work well under pressure with client deadlines
- strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
- supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- ambitious driven and desire to grow with the team and the company
