Neuberger Berman is an independent employee-owned global asset management firm with $515 billion of AUM headquartered in NYC and presence in 26 countries. The Tax Department reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is in charge of tax structuring tax compliance tax planning tax accounting tax reporting and ad-hoc tax matters.
We are looking for an experienced executive to oversee all the global tax matters of the Management Company and assist with the overall management of our multi-faceted tax department.
Responsibilities:
Oversee outsourced tax compliance and in-house tax provision process for the Management Company
Manage all tax aspects of the employee equity program which includes coordination with internal and external stakeholders on the purchase and sale of company equity calculation of quarterly tax distributions for unit holders PTET calculations and payments state and local tax payments and communication with NBSH unit holders.
Oversee all local non-income tax filings and payments
Manage requests from internal and external stakeholders related to the employee equity plan including Investor Relations Operations and Finance
Manage all aspects of the non-GAAP and US GAAP quarterly and annual income tax provisions and disclosures under ASC 740
Prepare and coordinate with Tax Finance Investment and Payroll teams executive summaries of tax provisions and quarterly presentations to the audit committee
Collaborate on M&A and/or strategic initiatives including tax due diligence integration of acquired business new tax strategies and structures
Active involvement in tax audit reviews and resolutions with federal state and local and non-US tax authorities
Collaborate with external service providers (law and accounting firms specializing in tax matters as well as fund administrators and other service providers) on all the Management Company initiatives
Maintain contemporaneous documentation on tax technical matters and filing positions
Manage train and develop staff and consultants in carrying out tax operating activities
Assist with global information reporting matters tax inquiries and consulting
Oversee modeling of tax effects on tax planning proposals and/or changes in circumstances as well tax laws and regulations
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Tax Accounting or equivalent (CPA required)
10 years of working experience (combination of private and public tax experience is preferrable)
Experience with operating partnerships is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. partnership and corporate tax compliance for US and non-US entities to oversee the compliance outsourced to a Big 4 Accounting Firm
Working knowledge of transfer pricing matters and supporting documentation
Advanced proficiency with Excel; advanced modeling/process automation experience is a plus
Willingness to roll up sleeves immersed in issues from discovery to resolution
Excellent analytical organizational written and oral communication skills
Strong ability to impart knowledge train and develop less experienced staff
Individual must have strong drive and initiative be collaborative and effectively liaise with partners colleagues and advisers as well as be able to work independently
An energetic forward-thinking creative individual with high ethical standards and a high level of accountability
Must be organized proactive and perform in a fast-paced environment as the role requires individual to be nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $180000-$220000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employees pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including but limited to relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority geographic location business sector performance shift travel requirements sales or revenue-based metrics market benchmarking data any collective bargaining agreements and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus which along with base salary and retirement contributions is part of our total comprehensive package.
