Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture Review & Optimization
- Assess the current Snowflake-based data platform architecture.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in data transformation and processing.
- Recommend architectural improvements for scalability performance and cost-efficiency.
- Code & SQL Review
- Conduct detailed reviews of DBT models SnowSQL scripts and transformation logic.
- Validate adherence to best practices in modularity reusability and performance tuning.
- Suggest improvements for query optimization and resource utilization.
- Performance Tuning
- Analyze slow-running queries and transformation pipelines.
- Implement strategies for warehouse sizing clustering caching and materialization.
- Guide the team on Snowflake-specific performance features (e.g. result caching automatic clustering).
- Best Practices & Governance
- Establish coding standards and naming conventions for DBT and SnowSQL.
- Define data governance lineage and documentation practices.
- Recommend monitoring and alerting mechanisms for data pipeline health.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with data engineers analysts and platform teams.
- Mentor junior developers on Snowflake and DBT development.
- Participate in sprint planning code reviews and architectural discussions.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in Snowflake and other Cloud DB environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise in DBT SnowSQL and SQL performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Oracle Exadata and PL/SQL is a plus for comparative analysis.
- 10 years experience in data modeling ( logical and physical ) ETL/ELT design and designing and implementing data warehouse performance tuning and optimization.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines version control and deployment automation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Snowflake Architect Certification DBT Certification.
- Experience in banking or financial services data platforms.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS Azure or GCP.
