Job Title: Computer Tomography Technologist

Location: WRNMMC 8901 Rockville Pike Bethesda MD 20889

Work Schedule: 24/7 Rotating Shifts (including holidays and weekends) - Based on the needs of the government and coordinated through the designated supervisor.

  • Day Techs: 06:00 14:30 and 07:00 15:30
  • Evening Techs: 14:30 22:30 and 15:00 23:30
  • Night Techs: 22:00 06:30 and 20:00 08:30
  • Weekend Day: 08:00 20:30
  • Weekend Night: 20:00 08:30

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of a radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of recent full-time experience performing CT scans in a hospital or medical center environment with knowledge of advanced imaging procedures such as cardiac CT angiography and CT-guided interventions.
  • License/Certification:
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in both Radiologic Technology RT(R) and post-primary CT (Computed Tomography).
  • Unrestricted license to practice radiologic technology in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen

Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform a full range of CT procedures including but not limited to non-contrast and contrast-enhanced imaging; CT angiography (head neck chest abdomen pelvis); Cardiac CT and gated imaging; Perfusion studies and virtual colonoscopy; Biopsies drainages and CT fluoroscopy procedures; Pediatric sedation scans
  • Operate and maintain advanced CT scanners from manufacturers such as GE (Discovery 750 HD Revolution 64 Slice) Siemens (Force 128 Slice) and Philips (IQON 256 Slice) ensuring proper use of injector systems and patient monitoring tools.
  • Prepare patients for procedures review clinical history explain the procedure to reduce anxiety and assess contraindications for contrast media.
  • Establish IV access and administer contrast agents monitor for reactions and initiate emergency procedures if necessary.
  • Perform routine QA and daily equipment checks including crash cart inspection contrast warmer logs blanket warmer monitoring and emergency supply checks.
  • Document patient information scan protocols and results accurately in MHS Genesis (DoD EHR) and ensure timely upload to the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
  • Maintain proper infection control practices clean and disinfect equipment and rooms between patients and follow all WRNMMC safety protocols and Joint Commission (JC) requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with referring providers nurses and radiologists to ensure correct imaging protocols are used and clinical questions are addressed.
  • Participate in departmental QA initiatives continuing education and staff training as required.
  • Work independently or in teams covering evening night weekend and holiday shifts as part of a 24/7 CT operation in a Level 1 trauma and academic military medical center.
