Job Description
Job Title: Medical Appointment Clerk (Operating Room Scheduler)
Location: Mike OCallaghan Military Medical Center Nellis AFB NV 89191
Work Schedule: Monday Fridayor
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as an Operating Room Scheduler or working in an operating room environment is required. This includes but is not limited to OR scheduling OR circulating OR scrub duties central sterilization duties or pre-operative nursing.
- License/Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or ARC; computer-based BLS not accepted
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures using S3 and other systems
- Verify surgical request data and patient info; resolve discrepancies with OR leadership
- Monitor OR utilization manage block times build daily/monthly OR schedules
- Import maintain and report data related to surgical scheduling staff assignments and case codes
- Coordinate with coders to ensure accurate record documentation
- Utilize systems including Essentris CHCS and MHS GENESIS for patient care coordination
- Provide customer service and maintain professionalism in high-tempo OR environments
